EARL OF CARDIGAN failed to get into gear when 9th over C&D at the end of last month. His prior efforts were promising enough for him to be granted another chance at shedding the maiden tag on attempt 17. INTEGRATE found a respectable 3rd over C&D on penultimate outing and rates a fair chance.

Race 2 – Vaal Racecourse
IN THE ETHER has been coming to the boil nicely, finding improvement since fitted with blinkers. A similar effort to either of her last 2 runs could see her best of an average field. LA BANQUIERE could offer the most resistance but still looks in need of work to be a true winning prospect.

Race 3 – Vaal Racecourse
LADY OSIER has placed three times in six outings and was last seen a good 2nd over C&D. She’s tracking well for a deserved maiden win under the careful watch of Paul Peter. MERCURIAL JET is respected having finished a couple of places ahead of the selection back in February. She’s fitted with blinkers and may well confirm the result despite not having built on it much.

Race 4 – Vaal Racecourse
MIKE THE PILOT isn’t the most prolific type but has shown a few glimpses of promise for the in-form Gray St John team. He’s out of pole position and might find this sort of contest within his wheelhouse. GREAT MELODY has posted his best efforts over C&D, finding the frame a couple of times including 3rd here about a month back. He could find another prize in this sort of field.

Race 5 – Vaal Racecourse
CAPE BOUQUET has been coming to the boil nicely and looks promising now dropped back in trip after a decent enough 4th over 13f. She’s well-drawn and could take all the beating here. ELUSIVE ROCKET is another who should fire up for a drop in trip. She’s clearly got potential but just needs to find that right distance to unlock it.

Race 6 – Vaal Racecourse
BULLETIN took a bit of a step backward when 6th over 10f at Turffontein latest. His prior C&D 5th saw him now far beaten at 100/1 and he could get another foot forward on return with that to work from. CHASING MAVERICKS has found 3rd the last twice since having blinkers removed. He’s nothing too special but does look a capable contender for this level of contest.

Race 7 – Vaal Racecourse
DOUBLE MAGIC is proving fairly progressive but might have some breathing issues plaguing him. If they are taken care of, Paul Peter’s gelding looks the one to beat if he can replicated either of his last 2 outings here. FOREVER FREE learned a lot on debut, returning to the track to find a good 3rd at 12/1 odds. He’s back from a few months rest and could pick right up where he left off.

MANDALAY has found 3rd the last twice, including latest over C&D in blinkers. They’re retained here and she could get a deserved victory on attempt 5. LOVE BITE has placed twice in 12 appearances but they’ve both come over this C&D so she could reasonably bring home more money.
