FIRE LORD has been coming to the boil nicely and a return to 6f could make all the difference. PETECA showed his best yet when 3rd on yard bow for Paul Peter. He needed the run in new surrounds and should sharpen further for powerful connections.

NIGHT LILY has found the frame the last twice including 2nd by a neck over C&D by a rival who has franked the form handsomely. This looks her opening to shed the maiden tag despite a wide draw. HYDRANGEA should be reaching peak fitness after a couple of runs earlier this year and looks to have plenty of scope.

SAY WHEN is a C&D winner last seen 2nd by ¾ of a length, fitness may be a slight concern but she’s headed in the right direction and could have her way here. NORDIC REBEL has a respectable C&D record and has won all his career victories at this course. He wasn’t disgraced at Turffontein latest and should benefit from a return here out of a nice draw.

CHIJMES failed to fire in the soft at Listed level over the mile at Turffontein latest. He can bounce back nicely now over firm ground and returned to an ideal trip while sporting blinkers in much calmer waters. WILLOW EXPRESS has found 3rd the last twice but was somewhat lacking when well-beaten at Listed level at Turffontein. Another set to benefit from firm conditions he has it in him to make amends.

OPERA GLASS is a C&D winner who gets the vote on talent in an otherwise mediocre field. Not far beaten over C&D in 5th latest she’s quite capable of pressing solid claims here. TRAVELING WILBURY misfired when 8th over 12f here but a fair drop in trip might see her back to the standard that landed her a handful of bronze medals since being fitted with blinkers.

GREENGROWTHELILACS hinted at a return to form when 3rd over the extended 7f here back in January. She’s tackling 9f for the first time and could notch a 2nd career victory as she retains extensive scope for improvement. RABIA THE REBEL is very dangerous as a well-raced 9 time winner. She’s a bit hit and miss but more than capable on her day.
