ALLIGATOR ALLEY hasn’t won since August 2019 but that win was at Listed level over C&D. Since having joined David O’Meara and landing a good 3rd at Wolverhampton he’s in a spot to return to his former glory. RAASEL is an obvious player, having won 6 of his last 7 runs. He’s on a roll and while a further 7lb hike is going to be felt he’s in top shape and could have plenty more to come.

Race 2 – York Racecourse
VILLE DE GRACE gets the nod for Sir Michael Stoute, who has trained 7 winners of past iterations. Last seen 2nd on comeback run in the Dahlia at Newmarket denied a hat trick by a nose, she should be fitter here and does have further scope for improvement. NOON STAR is a stablemate to the selection and does look poised for a big effort off the back of a narrow victory at Listed level. Both her wins have come with Ryan Moore in the irons and he is pleasingly booked once more.

Race 3 – York Racecourse
ISLA KAI has become a new horse since being sent off over the mile, notching a superb hat trick and not being disgraced when capping it off with a half-length 2nd over C&D to end 2021. A pleasing 4th on comeback at Newbury in the Spring Cup, he’s fighting fit and can retrace the winning thread off a mark of 100. LIGHTENING COMPANY looks the danger off the back of a narrow trip win at Redcar. He’s up 4lb to a mark of 85 and could throw down the gauntlet.

Race 4 – York Racecourse
MAGISTERIAL showed a bright future when 4th on debut at HQ back in September. He backed it up perfectly when scoring at Haydock before taking 190 days off and made a winning return in April to defy a penalty and get home convincingly when home over this trip at Leicester. He has an exciting shot at a hat trick if he can handle the big up in class, which his pedigree suggests he will. DESERT CROWN won with an authoritative 5+ in hand on debut at Nottingham and is most interesting being upped to this level and trip for Sir Michael Stoute who has trained the winner of this six times.

Race 5 – York Racecourse
PROJECT DANTE won by a head over C&D on debut back in May 2021 and went into 3rd at G2 level at Ascot by a head behind the mighty Perfect Power. Unable to land a blow in the July Stakes or at Ayr since, he’s had a wind operation and plenty of time off. He’s in a good spot to make a productive comeback and this is well-within his scope. BOONIE is the obvious danger after a narrow but convincing trip win at Nottingham on season comeback last month.

Race 6 – York Racecourse
QUEEN OLLY shades the verdict on debut for David Loughnane, who has his juveniles in top shape this season. She sports a hefty €300,000 price tag and strong breeding, she should know what to do and do it well. THUNDER CAT is another debutante of note, out of a G2 winning dam and could have plenty to come for Andrew Balding.

RAVENSCRAIG CASTLE has proven to be a very useful and consistent Ian Jardine charge. A pleasing 3rd on comeback should see him in a good spot to notch success off an unchanged 87 mark. MASTER MILLINER needed the outing when 5th at Newbury on comeback run. With added fitness and on return to an ideal C&D he demands respect.
