DAKOTA GOLD is a 5 time local winner, including thrice over C&D. He needed the run when beating none home on comeback at Musselburgh last month. Now the cobwebs are gone he’s expected to put the right foot forward off 3lb lower in ideal surrounds. MR LUPTON is the defending champion for Richard Fahey and comes back from 213 days off. He wasn’t at his best in the latter part of 2021 but demands respect here.

Race 3 – York Racecourse
DRAGON SYMBOL found the frame many times at Group 1 and 2 levels last season. Now under the care of Roger Varian, he should be rested and recovered to put forward a renewed offensive. MINZAAL didn’t get to make as many appearances as desired last season but has done more than enough to suggest he’s a player in the sprints, especially given the run he needs.

EMILY UPJOHN edged out success by a neck on debut at Wolverhampton before backing it up with 9+ in hand at Sandown. She’s gunning for a superb hat trick on 3rd outing and looks hard to oppose even after a major up in difficulty. LIFE OF DREAMS is interesting having won well on debut but the form hasn’t exactly worked out to be anything remarkable. She might have more to come for Charlie Appleby and could be the primary danger.

THE COOKSTOWN CAFU gets the vote on handicap bow off a 79 mark for Kevin Ryan. Last seen 2nd over C&D by a short head, this represents the ideal opening for compensation. SAMBURU is worth a thought as he is undefeated in 2 outings. A hat trick is within reach and he should prove popular for the Gosdens.

EL PICADOR is fresh off retracing the winning thread at Musselburgh over a similar trip late last month. A 4lb hike is fair and he’s in a good spot to make a bold double bid despite the wide draw. KASPERENKO hasn’t been doing too much of late but is respected returning to the scene of his latest win, albeit back in September. He’s off 1lb lower and could bounce back in ideal surrounds.

STARMAS gets the nod on debut for Richard Hannon, with an extensive and impressive family tree. She holds some decent future entries and represents a team who handle their youngsters well. HONOUR YOUR DREAMS is the pick on form having found the frame in both outings under rules for Adrian Keatley. Tom Marquand is a very eye-catching booking and it could be the missing piece of the puzzle.
