SIMPLE SIMPLE wasn’t a whole lot to look at on debut but apparently learned plenty. Sent up in trip she was a most conniving winner over C&D latest. She won’t have to improve too much to build on that effort. I AM REGAL was a narrow but pleasing winner on debut but couldn’t quite back it up when 3rd at Turffontein latest when upped to the mile. A drop back in trip can see her thereabouts.

Race 2 – Vaal Racecourse
COOL WINTER hasn’t been able to notch another win since his maiden victory over 4f here in December but has been holding form. Not far beaten in 3 of the 4 runs since, he’s shown enough to be a contender in this sort of field. ARGO ALLEY made a strong start to life when 2nd over 6f here and went one better at Turffontein. Now tackling 7f we could see plenty more here.

QUICK RUN is proving difficult to win with as a 26 start maiden. That said she’s found the frame in 13 of those runs, including the last twice. Undoubtedly capable, she’s given yet another chance today as she has the best of the draws. PINCH HIT did excellent work when 2nd on debut at 25/1 odds despite coughing. If his issues are ironed he could quite feasibly pick up the pieces if the selection is in perennial need of something to chase.

ROSE FOR TRIPPI showed many signs of greenness when beating one home on debut over 6f at Turffontein. A shortened trip and a better jump can see her make enormous improvement. INVENTRIX is worth a closer look on debut for Fanie Bronkhorst.

SATOSHI returned a gelding to find an improved 3rd over the extended 8f here latest. He needed that run and should be stripping fit enough to reverse the form with MANZ KNIGHT who was ¾ of a length ahead in 2nd on what was his debut. That said, there could be plenty more to come now racing with experience.

WONDERING STAR wasn’t far beaten in 7th from a lousy draw over the mile here latest. Now out of a much better gate, he could go well up in trip at the scene of his maiden victory. ELUSIVE SWANN isn’t the most prolific sort but has given many a glimpse of potential. The return to this trip may well be enough to get him back in the money.

HERE IS THE TIGER failed to fire when well-backed over 7f at Turffontein latest. His prior efforts are solid and he’s afforded a chance at redemption for Paul Peter. WAQAAS has found 3rd the last twice including latest over this trip. He’s had a couple months off and can come out swinging.
