MONSIEUR CHEVILLE has improved with each run since joining Paul Matchett. A few extra furlongs here might be the right move to get his account open. INDIAN WAR DANCE is a useful stayer who should probably have won by now. He found the frame over C&D on penultimate run and should be in the mix.

TRUST THE FIRE has been knocking hard at the door of late, finding the podium the last thrice including twice over C&D. He has a fair chance of getting out of maiden ranks on attempt twenty. BLACK BURNER is proving highly progressive and was very impressive when ¾ of a length 2nd over C&D at huge 66/1 odds. Eyes will be on him to back it up but don’t expect such a price.

Race 4 – Vaal Racecourse
CORAPI has shown promise in all 3 runs, including 2nd on debut over C&D. He won’t have to dig deep to convert his momentum into a score for Paul Peter. COMING IN HOT was beaten favourite when landing a very disappointing 8th over 6f here. His prior form is strong enough to suggest he could be better off for the run this time around.

COUNTRY FLAME has really sharpened up since joining Paul Matchett, landing in the frame the last twice including 2nd by a neck over C&D 9 days ago. She is on the right track for a deserved maiden victory. IPHIKO is respected as a stable companion to the selection who made no impression on debut when beating none home, but came back at Turffontein to land a much-improved 3rd. She should only get better with experience.

Race 6 – Vaal Racecourse
ABSOLUTE VALUE made leaps and bounds of improvement when ½ a length 3rd over slightly further 16 days ago. A similar sort of effort could see Fabian Habib’s colt make it 5th time lucky. QUALITY JOKER misfired when 100 lengths back in dead last over C&D. That was the end of a long streak of consistent work and now back from a rest he could deservedly recapture some of the magic.

RULE BOOK looks best in a pretty mediocre line-up, having landed 2nd over 9f here at 33/1 odds. He has the scope and ability to go one better from a solid draw. BROADWAY needed the run when 8th on local/yard debut for Fanie Bronkhorst. The trip should be no issue and he can bring home some minor money.

TWICE A MIRACLE has been coming to the boil nicely over the 7f range, now afforded a bit more run we could see Paul Matchett’s filly land a deserved maiden win. TUULETAR was a very promising 3rd over 9f here latest in first-time blinkers. Narrowly beaten, the blinkers stay on and the up in trip is a positive as she went down by a head over C&D back in December.
