POTTINGER has been gelded recently and took a step forward when 3rd at the end of December. He needed the outing and should come forward nicely. HOUSE MASTER showed some of his best yet when 3rd over slightly further here latest. He is a 30 start maiden but this isn’t a strong race.

Race 2 – Vaal Racecourse
FENNEC FOX kicked things off with a win at Turffontein over minimum trip. She wasn’t disgraced when 3rd after getting away slowly and having some issues in the run. She looks the sort to bounce right back if the health problems are resolved. FLOWERBOMB caught the eye when 2nd on debut over C&D at 16/1 odds. She should improve for the outing and could challenge.

Race 3 – Vaal Racecourse
FASHIONIGMA needed the run when 7th on return from 183 days off. She’s shown enough to be a player if fitness has improved this time around. CROWN PLAZA showed serious improvement when ¾ a length 3rd over 7f here in her second outing since being fitted with blinkers. She could back it up here.

Race 4 – Vaal Racecourse
SERGEI was in a good pocket of form in late 2021 but fizzed out in his final outing. A few months rest could have done him well and he could make a winning return. SYBARUS is reaching her peak fitness after a couple of close-up 5th place finishes. A return to the course she won at on debut could see her back on top.

LIGHT OF THE MOON needed the run when 5th on comeback/yard bow for new connections. She is quite capable of firing up with the cobwebs gone. CAPTAIN OF GRIT had plenty left in the tank when scoring in a C&D maiden at the end of 2021. He is likely to have more to come now the penny has dropped.

VEROLINA rattled the crossbar in her first 3 outings before having her consistency rewarded over C&D latest. She’s clearly talented and should have further improvement in store. BABY DON’T HURT ME showed ample promise when ½ a length 3rd on debut. She didn’t back it up on local debut but after a spell came back and landed the spoils with authority over this trip at Turffontein.

NOBLE SNIPER was a useful performer at Greyville for his old yard and could continue to ascend now under the care of Paul Peter in new surrounds. LOOK YOURSELF is in top shape and has been doing good work without winning. She could make a splash over an ideal trip on local debut.

SOUND OF HOUNDS edged out a win over 6f here on debut by a nose when sent off at 10/1 odds. He’s likely to have more up his sleeve for that experience and should attract strong support. WAQAAS is a local specialist who has to enter calculations now paired with Kaidan Brewer and his invaluable 9lb claim.
