AMENON couldn’t live up to market expectations when beaten into 2nd by a neck at Wincanton latest but the pair were well ahead of the pack. A field lacking that calibre can see Paul Nicholls’ gelding gain due compensation after three straight crossbar rattles. SALVINO has finished 2nd the last twice including latest to a very well-regarded rival. He returns from a wind operation and could offer plenty of resistance.

Race 2 – Perth Racecourse
LAKOTA WARRIOR was most impressive when an 8 length winner on chase bow at Doncaster. Handed an 8lb hike for the effort, Dan Skelton’s charge looks quite capable of backing it up having found what seems to be his ideal sphere. SHANTOU LUCKY is dangerous coming across the Irish Sea for a raid and was more in control of the situation than the ¾ length winning margin at Clonmel suggests.

Race 3 – Perth Racecourse
COACH CARTER took an up in class in stride when a pleasing runner up at 20/1 odds in a Listed event at Ayr at the start of the month. He can put that experience to good work here and notch another win over fences. SAO does his best work over fences and in smaller fields. Last seen brought down at Ayr, he’s capable of plenty of damage provided his confidence is intact.

Race 4 – Perth Racecourse
COMPLETE UNKNOWN appears to be the antithesis of his name, a proven effective hurdler yet to finish outside the top 3 in 5 outings for Paul Nicholls. He got the hurdling account open in style in a G3 at Sandown last month and looks capable of doubling down despite an 8lb hike as he heads to calmer waters. MAHLER MISSION won with a couple in hand at G2 level at Doncaster back in January before a decent 3rd in the G1 Novices’ hurdle at the Cheltenham festival and should enter the equation once more.

ZAMBELLA is last year’s runner up fresh off a respectable 4th in the Mares’ Chase at Cheltenham last month. She likes it here and should be able to rally enough for a serious shot at success. PINK LEGEND represents the recently out of form Venetia Williams string and was 2 places ahead of the selection when beaten half a length into 2nd at Cheltenham. These two can fight it out but slight preference remains for the selection.

Race 6 – Perth Racecourse
RUBYTWO is a reliable sort who deserves to win far more often than she has for Nicky Richards. She’s often one to place at a nice price but could actually get another score to her name off bottom weight. She struck the crossbar in a strong handicap at Musselburgh off this mark last month and could be hinting at a hard-earned victory. COREY’S COURAGE is sure to prove popular, unbeaten in 4 outings including on debut in an Uttoxeter bumper. This is Olly Murphy’s mare’s handicap bow and a 117 mark sees her quite capable of keeping the streak alive.

EMIRAT DE CATANA was very uncharacteristically poor when 5th of 5 at Musselburgh over fences latest. A return to hurdle where she is more effective can foster a recovery off 2lb higher than her December win in this sphere. WORLD TRIP had plenty in hand at Huntingdon on penultimate start. The subsequent Wetherby 4th wasn’t great but she’s capable of bouncing back for the in-form Olly Murphy team.
