TRIXSTER showed a return to form may be in order when 3rd at Ludlow after a string of disappointing efforts. The 105 mark might be right for Tim Vaughan’s 9 year old to get a deserved win. POTTLERATH has been threatening a win for a while and could build on a handful of promising placings.

FILE ILLICO unlocked enough improvement in first-time cheekpieces to edge out a ½ length victory at Wetherby last month. Off a 5lb higher mark and with the form having been boosted since, Jonjo O’Neill’s 7 year old returns to the C&D he won over back in October. ROSE SEA HAS bounced back when 2nd at 20/1 over this trip at Chepstow and could strike off an unchanged mark.

Race 4 – Ffos Las Racecourse
CANFORD LIGHT was unfortunate to fall the last twice but his prior Ludlow victory on yard bow for Evan Williams was solid enough. A drop in class and a 3lb lower mark might be enough for him to retrace the winning thread. JAUNTY VIKING has found 3rd the last twice and could build on those efforts now dropped to a trip range where he could attempt prominent tactics again.

KINGSTON KING was a respectable 3rd over shorter at Bangor-on-Dee last month and returns to a trip he has done most of his best work over. A 2lb lower mark means conditions could be ripe for him to strike. GOLD CLERMONT is respected for Tom Lacey as a winner between the flags who does seem to have more scope than we’ve seen in these ranks for far.

KIERA ROYALE has been doing good work in the chase ranks of late without actually winning. Now back over timber, she’s 8lb lower than when she won a stronger race along this trip over fences at Worcester. She is winless in this sphere but that could change with this looking a nice opening for a well-handicapped 11 year old. CHECKITSME won by a head at Leicester late last month and gets to line up off the same mark with Michael Bastyan taking 3lb off. She battled her way to the front that day and might struggle to follow up to rapidly.

SPRING MEADOW gets a big shout on debut for Nigel Twiston-Davies, a well-bred type who should be very prepared for the task at hand. TAHMURAS is respected as a winner between the flags who has been acquired by Paul Nicholls. The form isn’t too strong but it is enough to attract market support.
