HONNEUR D’AJONC was backed into oblivion to score in a rather weak Hereford event and while his obliging was no surprise the merit of the run sees him a serious contender here now down in trip. TIME TO TINKER had a solid first season over hurdles, landing some minor honours and a local win over 19f. He has since had a wind operation and should progress further.

PILLAR OF STEEL has won 5 of her last 6 and even under a further 5lb rise looks the one they all have to account for. The selection had SEE THE SEA in tow back at Uttoxeter on penultimate run but this McCain mare is hunting her own hat trick and might get some revenge.

SOUL ICON has sharpened nicely since going handicapping, winning both bouts in good style including at 66/1 over this trip at Huntingdon. She backed it up at short odds at Exeter and has an exciting prospect at a hat trick now upped in class. SUFI finished with conviction when 2nd at Wincanton earlier this week and could benefit nicely from a rise in trip.

RATHNURE RANGER is proving to be a progressive sort for a 7 year old and has won 2 of his last 3 by narrow margins. He is up 2lb and should be able to mount a competitive bid over an ideal trip. GERARD MENTOR was 2nd to the selection at Exeter latest and could fill a similar role here.

Race 6 – Taunton Racecourse
FIRE LAKE showed all the right stuff on debut when bested by a neck at Ludlow at 16/1 odds. She should be one tough nut to crack with that run under her belt. ROSE ABOVE IT is back from 152 days off and has claims off a wining debut at Exeter but the 7lb penalty combined with the absence isn’t ideal.
