Race 1 – Vaal Racecourse
RAY INDIGO hadn’t impressed in the 6f trip range but when upped to C&D he was a surprise 2nd at juicy 40/1 odds. Eyes will be on him to prove it was earned but don’t expect that sort of price. DAME OF FLAMES showed potential when a close up 3rd on debut but didn’t live up to it when well-backed but could only manage another 3rd, this time well held. She was not disgraced there and could make amends here.
Top Tip – RAY INDIGO (1)
One to consider – DAME OF FLAMES (3)
Race 2 – Vaal Racecourse
OCEAN WARRIOR proved himself capable in his first couple of runs but was a letdown when sent off favourite over 9f at Kenilworth latest. He has since shifted yards to Paul Peter and could find the new surroundings ideal. PEWTER SKY needed the run when 5th over 6f here after a short spell and should benefit from the return to the mile.
Top Tip – OCEAN WARRIOR (1)
One to consider – PEWTER SKY (3)
Race 3 – Vaal Racecourse
STUNNING KITTEN has rattled the crossbar the last twice and had landed back to back bronze before that. The next logical step is a win for her and this sort of event looks as good an opening she’ll get. KOOPA TROOPA should be fighting fit after a pipe opener over the mile here when 4th and should have more to come for her new yard.
Top Tip – STUNNING KITTEN (1)
One to consider – KOOPA TROOPA (2)
Race 4 – Vaal Racecourse
JOE HARMAN has placed in 5 of his last 6 appearances and might be able to work them into a win here against a fairly moderate field. SECRET LINK is worth a closer look now trying 10f and has shown plenty of potential so might benefit from the yardage.
Top Tip – JOE HARMAN (1)
One to consider – SECRET LINK (7)
Race 5 – Vaal Racecourse
MY KINGDOM seems hard to win with, landing just one in 35 runs but it came over C&D. He has a mixed bag of efforts of late with a couple of solid crossbar rattles and some disappointing downfield efforts. WAQAAS benefitted from the shedding of blinkers when 3rd over the extended 8f. He had the selection in tow that day and could confirm the result.
Top Tip – MY KINGDOM (2)
One to consider – WAQAAS (3)
Race 6 – Vaal Racecourse
LET’S TALK is respected on return from a spell after last being sighted winning by a head over slightly shorter. He should be wound up nicely for the comeback and could pick right up where he left off. SERGEI has placed the last thrice including the last twice in blinkers. He is on the upward trend and could prove hard to peg back.
Top Tip – LETS TALK (1)
One to consider – SERGEI (3)
Race 7 – Vaal Racecourse
MUFASA kicked his career off with a dominant win and backed it right up on return. He was lining up for an exciting hat trick on run number 3 but couldn’t do better than 4th. He wasn’t disgraced and can make amends here. ZIMBABA is a useful trip suited filly but she might be in need of a run to get her fighting fit.
Top Tip – MUFASA (2)
One to consider – ZIMBABA (3)
Race 8 – Vaal Racecourse
WHO’S THAT STAR wasn’t great here over 6f latest when beating none home but now back over 5f is looking good having form lines of 221 over 5f. FRONTLINE FIGHTER has been consistent of late and blinkers have definitely helped his case. He can press his strong claims over an ideal track and trip.
Top Tip – WHO’S THAT STAR (1)
One to consider – FRONTLINE FIGHTER (4)
