Race 1 – Vaal Racecourse
QUICK RUN is a consistent operator who has found the frame the last 4 times running including the last twice over C&D. She is unfortunate to be a 17 time maiden but could give it another go from pole positon. LOVE BITE was a pleasing 3rd on debut over track and trip and came back to go one better. This progressive filly could have a big say here.

Race 2 – Vaal Racecourse
EYES ON TIGER was a strong C&D 2nd on comeback from 156 days off and should be fighting fit for a win bid. He’s come agonisingly close here in the past and is deserving. FRENCH REBEL was nothing special in his first few starts, beating none home and finding no love in the betting. Then he came back from a couple months off and turned plenty of heads when 2nd by a length at 66/1. He could prove that was improvement and no fluke here.

Race 3 – Vaal Racecourse
JACOB’S LADDER is a useful staying sort who could bring home the goods as he comes from KwaZulu-Natal for a quick raid for Louis Goosen. SOPHIA’S FIRST has 2 wins and 4 places from 8 runs at this course, including a 2nd by a neck over C&D back in March. She does well here and can’t be underestimated.

Race 4 – Vaal Racecourse
WILLOW EXPRESS needed the run when 6th in first-time blinkers over 6f at Turffontein. He returns to the mile and should be wound up nicely to mount a comeback. STORMY WINTER is highly respected as he guns for a hat trick on return from 117 days off. He might need the run but cannot be ignored.

Race 5 – Vaal Racecourse
STARRYWINTERNIGHT was caught unprepared by the bend at Greyville in a Grade 1 over the mile. He wasn’t disgraced that day and can make amends nicely now dropped into calmer waters. LITTLE PRINCE was a promising 3rd on debut and made good on that when returning to win readily over this trip at Turffontein on 2nd start. More could come from this Paul Peter charge.

Race 6 – Vaal Racecourse
MUFASA kicked off with a bang winning on debut before backing it right up on return 20 days later. He was then rested and now comes back for a superb chance at a hat trick on start number 3. The absence raises questions but he is taken to be ready for a big one. GRAPPLER is in a good pocket of form and could be the one to chase the section home for a minor prize.

Race 7 – Vaal Racecourse
CHIMICHURI RUN has reached a point where he probably needs a longer run based on previous efforts but cannot be discounted. He is a 5 time trip winner with another 6 placings and did manage to find 2nd on his sole C&D effort. MR FLOOD is 4 from 5 over C&D and returning here can see him make amends for a half-length beating over this trip at Turffontein.

Race 8 – Vaal Racecourse
DESERT PRIDE is interesting coming back from 173 days off and while her April reappearance was lacking her early form saw her notch a superb double including a leg over C&D. If she’s ready for the task at hand she could strike from barrier 1. I DREAM OF GENIE has struck the crossbar 5 times in 7 runs with a trip win also appearing in the mix. She’s nothing if not consistent and could play a similar role here while also being a win chance.
