Race 2 – Greyville Racecourse
PURPLE MERCHANT needed her last run and can take another step forward on return to the C&D she won her maiden over on debut. AUNTY LIZZY is trip suited and wasn’t disgraced a close 4th over C&D latest. She can find her way into the equation once more.

WINTER ROYALE has shown glimpses of potential over this trip range and lines up against a moderate field. She has work to do but this might be the place to do it. THE GREEN GALLANT is a hit and miss sort but has shown more than enough potential to be a player in this sort of field.

Race 4 – Greyville Racecourse
CRIMEA has been posting valiant efforts in defeat at higher levels and has to be taken very seriously in calmer waters coming back from a rest. She has pole positon and could swoop with it over ideal C&D. MORE THAN A DIME races well fresh and won over C&D with more in hand than the margin suggests. She can keep her stablemate honest here.

Race 5 – Greyville Racecourse
FAVOUR is both C&D suited and perfectly drawn to build on his latest 9f 4th. A talented Dean Kannemeyer charge, he has ample stamina and solid claims. PUERTO MANZANO is dangerous on a raid from the Highveld for the Van Vuuren team. Last seen making a bold bid from the front in the G1 Gauteng Summer Cup, he landed a respectable 6th only 2 ½ lengths back. A similar effort will take some stopping.

Race 6 – Greyville Racecourse
PREEMPTIVE STRIKE is in a nice pocket of form, finding the frame in both November outings and beaten by just half a length on the turf and Poly tracks here. He can continue his good run from barrier 2. NOBLE SNIPER has finished behind the selection in the past but has proved to be an effective local performer who can land plenty of blows from gate 3.

RALPH RASCAL was last seen 5th over 7f here 3 days ago and while that wasn’t his best effort it can certainly be built on here. Better-drawn and tackling the mile for the first time, he might have some progression on the cards. KAROO LARK has placed twice over C&D and is has a couple of trip wins to work from. Last seen 2nd over track and trip he could take another step forward from a better draw.

Race 8 – Greyville Racecourse
SPARKLING FLAME has been turned over as favourite or 2nd favourite in 5 of her last 6 outings and has proven a disappointment for backers each time. Still there is hope that she’ll relish the mile over the turf here and she is reluctantly given another chance to make amends. ROCKIE REEF is getting better with experience and looks the type who won’t be waiting in the sidelines much longer.
