INDEPENDENCE DAY was nearing 4 years winless before a narrow 6f win at Kempton got him back on the scoreboard. He showed a good attitude that day and Joey Haynes seems to have figured this 9 year old out. DIVINE CONNECTION went down by just ½ a length over this trip at Southwell and could make amends off the same mark. Blinkers seem to have sharpened her plenty and she’s dangerous.

BROUGHTONS PEACE gets the nod for the in-form Phillip McBride team, she’s posted some strong efforts in defeat and now reunited with Tom Marquand could be right on track for the deserved maiden win. DARK KRIS opened the account by a head on first outing since joining Ivan Furtado. A 1lb higher perch could see him remain competitive for a yard who has had a stellar 2022.

WHERESTHEBARBIL gets the vote on debut for Archie Watson as a well-bred filly who has the capable hand of Hollie Doyle in the saddle. KHURUMBI was a most pleasing ¾ length 4th in a decent event at Newcastle last month and could take another leap forward.

ACROSS THE NILE has won her last 2 over C&D, including latest which was yard bow for Mark Loughnane. A 2lb hike is not a big issue and with Hollie Doyle retaining the ride a hat trick looks likely. DUBAI LADY remains unexposed and could improve now fitted with a hood, we can ignore her latest effort at Newcastle.

LAMMAS was unable to overcome a lousy draw when beating none home on hat trick bid at Kempton latest. He’s likely to recover some prestige off an unchanged 83 mark with the return to a longer trip a positive. CIVIL LAW retraced the winning thread over C&D on penultimate run and wasn’t disgraced when a neck 2nd on return here last month. A 1lb hike leaves him open to due compensation.
