Our Friday began with Rousing Siren not giving much of an effort in Race 1 but turned it around when Miss Tulsa stalked and drew away to take Race 3. In Race 10, our wild longshot, Notary was taken well off the pace, swung wide and was rolling too late – nabbed 4th. With more pace in this field, Notary would’ve done better but being taken so far off a slow early pace did him no favors. In the Grade 1 Clark, Midnight Bourbon got pressed by Maxfield from the start and Max drove by in the stretch for the win. In Race 12, Greener Pastures was given a BRILLIANT ride by jockey Joe Talamo to close from off the pace and get up for the win at 10/1 odds!
Saturday is Churchill Downs’ second “Stars of Tomorrow” card as they close out their meet with another Saturday of strictly two year old racing. A few graded stakes races are on this card as we begin to look ahead to next year’s Triple Crown Trail.
We’ll also be taking a look at a trio of 8/1 shots racing at Aqueduct. We’re expecting a fast main track with chilly temperatures at both locations.
