Race 2 – Wolverhampton Racecourse
CHEF DE TROUPE wasn’t firing all cylinders when 3rd of 5 over 14f here. He’s better judged on his 2nd over this trip at Southwell on penultimate run, denied by just half a length. The 53 mark and William Cox coming back for the ride can see him get a deserved win. QUIET THUNDER was a place behind the selection in 3rd that day at Southwell and is capable with Hollie Doyle booked once more.

EL BELLO is shooting for a nice hat trick after a powerful 3+ length win at Newcastle following a narrow C&D victory in February. The break should have done him well and he’s capable of defying an 8lb rise. GALILEO GLASS is probably better over further but has been doing solid work in defeat since joining Joseph Parr and might be able to contest this.

ASRAABB was too new to it all to land a blow when 5th on debut at Lingfield, getting away too slowly but firing up nicely late. With that run she should sharpen enough for Roger Varian to land a couple of blows in this sort of event. TANGO TONIGHT struck the crossbar over C&D on comeback run 13 days back and is an obvious danger.

NATIONWIDE has narrowly won both outings since joining John Butler and holds an entry in the Wokingham. He certainly seems to have been a great purchase for 10,000 Guineas and should be able to land the hat trick. GOBI SUNSET is notable as Joe Fanning’s only ride of the day and is coming down in trip after some lacking efforts over turf.

GLORIOUS CHARMER fought his way to success by a neck over C&D latest and is up just 1lb for the effort. He does his best over this track and trip and is expected to double down as he remains well-handicapped. THE NAIL GUNNER went too hard too early when 5th in a blanket finish at Kempton latest. The pace might be a better target in this sort of field.

STARTER FOR TEN won convincingly over this trip at Kempton in mid-December and was given some time off. He’s back off 5lb higher and notably paired with Silvestre De Sousa. MARTINEO is a C&D winner who went down by ¾ of a length into 3rd here at the end of April. He’s off the same mark and can give the selection plenty to think about.

CAREY STREET misfired when beating just one home at Haydock latest but is forgiven as he returns to his preferred surface. His penultimate start saw him win well over C&D and he’s fancied to land the spoils off a mark of 74. DAHEER does his best here, with 5 wins over C&D including a month back. His rider takes 7lb off and the pair can give the selection a lot of bother.
