Race 1 – Wolverhampton Racecourse
MY NAME’S HOWARD was nothing impressive until fitted with first-time cheekpieces over 7f at Lingfield. A seriously improved 3rd that day, he could go very well here now dropped 5lb and up in trip again. TWISTALINE is respected having won by a head at Lingfield 2 starts ago on first outing for Mick Appleby but was a lacking 5th when turned over at odds-on at Southwell.
Top Tip – MY NAME’S HOWARD (7)
One to consider – TWISTALINE (5)

Race 2 – Wolverhampton Racecourse
MUDLAHHIM has been doing good work in the handicaps without actually winning since August. Now dropped in grade he could retrace the winning thread with minimal exertion. GIUSEPPE CASSIOLI concedes weight to the selection but has also been giving a good account in the handicaps and could just need a confidence boost at this level.
Top Tip – MUDLAHHIM (2)
One to consider – GIUSEPPE CASSIOLI (1)
Race 3 – Wolverhampton Racecourse
DESERT LIME went down by a length latest, over C&D in a tongue-tie and first-time cheekpieces. The headgear stays on and she gets the benefit of an unchanged mark plus Harry Davies’ 7lb claim so things should go well for the pair. PATSY FAGAN is respected off the back of a decent trip win at Southwell but the 5lb hike does see him starting to reach his ceiling.
Top Tip – DESERT LIME (9)
One to consider – PATSY FAGAN (2)

Race 4 – Wolverhampton Racecourse
ALEXANDER JAMES notched a nice double in December which included a C&D win. He wasn’t disgraced in 3rd after a further 3lb hike and a crack at front-running. A return to tried and true tactics while down in grade at this ideal venue could foster a rapid recovery. SOCIETY RED won’t lie down on the hunt for a hat trick and remains fairly competitively weighted.
Top Tip – ALEXANDER JAMES (4)
One to consider – SOCIETY RED (6)
Race 5 – Wolverhampton Racecourse
EARLOFTHECOTSWOLDS is a very useful National Hunt performer who might prove a choice recruit to the flat for the Twiston-Davies operation. Any sort of transfer of his recent hurdle form would see him go well indeed. RAINBOW DREAMER is the conventional selection, rated 105 and sporting Hollie Doyle. Last seen ¾ of a length 2nd at Newcastle the pair have every chance at a score over an ideal C&D.
Top Tip – EARLOFTHECOTSWOLDS (3)
One to consider – RAINBOW DREAMER (5)

BASE NOTE was nothing special on debut when beating just one home at Kempton. The experience did him a world of good, as he landed a superb 2nd at 20/1 over C&D on return to the track. This Crisford colt could go one better with that under his belt. GRAND ALLIANCE was 4th that day and should sharpen nicely for the experience. He could fill the runner-up berth nicely here.
Top Tip – BASE NOTE (5)
One to consider – GRAND ALLIANCE (6)
Race 7 – Wolverhampton Racecourse
ALMUFEED tore it up over C&D to win with an authoritative 3+ in hand on comeback from 110 days off. Raised 7lb for the effort, he can outrun that and double down now the penny has dropped. BILLY ROBERTS has to be respected and feared, lining up for a hat trick. He is up just 2lb but will have to account for the selection’s own compelling claims.
Top Tip – ALMUFEED (1)
One to consider – BILLY ROBERTS (2)
