Race 1 – Wolverhampton Racecourse
STUDY THE STARS has returned to form since joining George Baker, landing the spoils over C&D 3 days ago. There might be more to come as they seek to strike while the iron is hot. KABUTO is interesting fitted with a visor after a lacking 8th at Southwell. A 3lb drop might also contribute to a recovery.
Top Tip – STUDY THE STARS (1)
One to consider – KABUTO (6)

SO SMART showed promise once when ½ a length 2nd at Nottingham over this trip in July. He hasn’t shown much of anything since but now making first outing for Hugo Palmer while fitted with a visor and paired with Ben Curtis we could see some sort of tapping of that promise if it remains. ALASKAN JEWEL can be forgiven her latest 12th of 12 at Southwell based on the merit of her 3 prior runs. She’s capable of leaving that run in the past over an ideal C&D.
Top Tip – SO SMART (7)
One to consider – ALASKAN JEWEL (8)
Race 3 – Wolverhampton Racecourse
MICK’S SPIRIT took a huge leap forward when scoring at Lingfield latest but failed to escape the wrath of the assessor. Now upped in class off 9lb higher this will take his absolute best but he looks capable of putting it forth here. INTERVENTION should be in the mix after a local victory over 6f by just a short head. A 5lb penalty for that effort seems to be very harsh so he might not be in a spot to back it up.
Top Tip – MICK’S SPIRIT (3)

Race 4 – Wolverhampton Racecourse
CHARLES ST showed ample promise when ½ a length 2nd on debut over 10f at Lingfield. He backed it up nicely for George Boughey when home over C&D back in January. Returning a gelding after a rest, he can hit the ground running with Ben Curtis taking the ride. ASGOODASSOBERGETS won in France when last seen and could make a dent on UK debut now racing for Tom Ward.
Top Tip – CHARLES ST (2)
One to consider – ASGOODASSOBERGETS (1)
Race 5 – Wolverhampton Racecourse
WHITE WILLOW has proven a progressive filly for Richard Fahey, getting over the line in style over the extended 9f here on 3rd start. She’s likely to find more now upped in trip once more as she heads into the handicaps. DESERT EMPEROR hasn’t been disgraced since winning 3 of 4 late last year. He has found the frame in his last 8 outings and should be a player off that sort of form.
Top Tip – WHITE WILLOW (4)
One to consider – DESERT EMPEROR (1)

Race 6 – Wolverhampton Racecourse
KAPE MOSS had 2 future winners in tow when victorious by a head in a Newcastle nursery back in December. On comeback run off 4lb higher she could double down on her way to bigger and better. SIR HENRY COTTON is the clear and present danger for Andrew Balding as he guns for a hat trick after notching a double by narrow margins. This will require serious improvement but he’s in a spot to make it.
Top Tip – KAPE MOSS (2)
One to consider – SIR HENRY COTTON (5)
Race 7 – Wolverhampton Racecourse
PLUMETTE won well enough over 7f here on penultimate run before settling for 3rd when upped to the extended 9f. This represents a slight drop in trip but a similar showing to either might be enough to clinch victory. HARBOUR VISION has been doing good work without winning and should enter the mix as usual.
Top Tip – PLUMETTE (8)
One to consider – HARBOUR VISION (7)
