HIGHEST AMBITION can be forgiven for a lacklustre 5th on New Year’s Day over C&D. A 1lb drop and the fitting of first-time cheekpieces could see him get back on course toward an open account. LIGHT OF THUNDER is interesting making first start for the Williams team, new connections have opted for a serious drop in trip. This could pay dividends, watch the betting.

FERNANDO RAH won with authority over C&D on penultimate run and wasn’t disgraced when 2nd after being upped to 6f at Kempton. A drop back to this C&D off the same 97 mark could see a bounce back for Clive Cox’s gelding. MONDAMMEJ has proven highly progressive, particularly on this surface. Not disgraced when 2nd over this trip at Newcastle on hat trick bid he could offer plenty of credible resistance.

COLLABORATING has had his prospects revived by Ann Duffield, a lacking 9th on yard bow was left in the past when upped to the extended 12f at Newcastle where he landed 2nd by a head at 25/1 odds. A slight drop in trip might not stop him going one better on what may well prove his ideal trip range and surface. KINGSON could foil the selection’s bid if building on a recent 10f win at that same track.

LIBBY AMI has proven a shred acquisition for Ivan Furtado, winning on yard bow by a neck over C&D and backing it up fairly well with a 3rd over the same. This yard is in top shape and Tom Marquand’s booking catches the eye in the best way possible. HOMER STOKES is better than the 5th we saw at Newcastle latest. A return to this course and an up in trip might see him recover.

WESTERN MUSIC was too keen when sent off from a wide draw at Chelmsford latest, landing 5th. Her prior C&D 3rd saw her within ¾ of a length of the front and a return here combined with a reunion with Connor Beasley could see the pair take another step forward. ARLO’S SUNSHINE could have more to come after a somewhat inspiring couple of 3rd place finishes of late including over C&D on penultimate run albeit 7+ lengths back.

VESPASIAN showed plenty to work with when 3rd over 7f on debut at Kempton for the Crisfords. He backed it up with a win by a neck over the same trip at Lingfield. The move down to 6flooks a fair one and he has every right to knock another out. BARE NECESSITY could give him the most to do, having similarly impressed in 4th on debut before a 2 length score over this trip at Wolverhampton.
