He may have to dig deep if he wants to keep his streak alive.

HOUGOUMONT went down by a neck on debut at Carlisle before making amends by a short head at Newcastle. The form has been boosted by the runner up since and he’s looking poised for a fair double bid under penalty. REZ showed ample promise in 4th on debut and should sharpen further and crack the frame.

DESERT GAMES was a most pleasing 3rd on debut at Wolverhampton over this trip, a place behind the reopposing QUANTUM IMPACT. With experience to build on, the selection is fancied to flip the result. WUAMTUM IMPACT had experience on his side that day and will have to fight to confirm the form.

BLISTERING BARNEY edged out a success at Carlisle by a head at a nice 16/1 price. The form has held up well and he’s in a fair spot to extend his streak off 3lb higher. BILLY NO MATES made a splash when scoring at Thirsk over this trip on return from 301 days off. He could have more to come off 4lb higher, especially with improved fitness.

ANOTHER ROMANCE won with 3+ in hand and AL SIMMO back in 2nd at Salisbury latest. She’s likely to confirm the form on sheer merit, but will have to dig deep off 9lb higher and losing her 5lb claimer. AL SIMMO is well-treated for another tilt but does have to work hard to make the most of the swing at the weights.

INFINITI is a completely new mare this season, winning 4 of her last 5 on the flat and winning over timber prior. She’s up 7lb but is still looking hard to beat at the ripe age of nine. WYNFORD is respected as a local winner who got home cosily at Carlisle at the start of August and could make a dent off 2lb higher.

BUSHFIRE was plunged in the deep end when unable to land a single blow in the Golden Gates at Royal Ascot. Rested and gelded since, he can bounce back in much calmer waters now going handicapping off an 80 mark. GARDEN OASIS is also dangerous down in class. He’s not as promising as the selection but does have solid claims over an ideal C&D.
