METABOLT was well-backed on handicap bow at Chester following a superb 4+ length maiden win at Carlisle. Denied a clear run, he had to settle for 4th but still made a positive impression. Now upped in trip he could make amends. CISCO DISCO is the danger off the back of a fair Pontefract win. He will not be troubled by the wet conditions.

FAST RESPONSE has won her last couple in good heart, including a C&D affair by a neck. A 6lb penalty makes things tougher but she has a very real shot at the hat trick. HELVETIQUE accounted for the selection when successful over this trip at Redcar at the start of the month and rates a danger.

LITTLE MUDDY has been in good shape since June, not far beaten in 6 starts that include a 6f win at Ayr. The 67 mark remains fair and she can slog her way forward here. SIR BENEDICT is respected lining up here but might be more effective over further.

ALPINE STROLL looks good as a C&D winner whose latest track and trip 3rd took a nice boost since. Victory here won’t come easy but he’s certainly in a spot to fight for it. GOLDEN FLAME hasn’t had a lot of success of late but is of some interest coming down in trip off the back of a 2nd over 18f at Pontefract.

ARTISTIC CHOICE makes strong appeal on first outing for Michael Bell, with all the groundwork looking done. His stamina is proven and he is now a gelding fitted with a first-time visor. AEGIS POWER was well-beaten in 3rd on return from 163 days off and a gelding operation. He should be thereabouts now the pipes are open.
