Race 1 – Kempton Racecourse
RINGO STARLIGHT showed plenty of dash when 2nd at Southwell and was somewhat unfortunate to not be rewarded with a win, with positioning ultimately foiling him. He can gain due compensation here off the same mark with Thore hammer Hansen a useful booking. EXCELING could throw a spanner in the works after another C&D win 12 days ago. Both of Richard Hannon’s filly’s wins have come over track and trip and the 4lb rise could be generous.
Top Tip – RINGO STARLIGHT (6)
One to consider – EXCELING (10)
Race 2 – Kempton Racecourse
SIR GREGORY did better than it seems when 7th from a shocking draw at Wolverhampton on yard bow for Mick Appleby. With that under his belt and pole positon today he can go significantly better off 1lb lower. WON LOVE couldn’t justify being sent off favourite when 7th at Lingfield latest but has to be respected off 2lb lower and paired with Rossa Ryan.
Top Tip – SIR GREGORY (7)
One to consider – WON LOVE (6)
Race 3 – Kempton Racecourse
COVERT MISSION is a regally-bred type who was most impressive when home with 2+ in hand over C&D latest. David Probert takes the ride and this looks like a nice opening for a double off a workable 5lb hike. CALIN’S LAD did well to find 2nd over 5f at Wolverhampton on comeback last month. Returned to his winning C&D he can land plenty of blows now the cobwebs are gone.
Top Tip – COVERT MISSION (7)
One to consider – CALIN’S LAD (11)
Race 4 – Kempton Racecourse
WHITTLE LE WOODS is up a fair 3lbv for a length victory over this trip at Chelmsford latest. He was doing good work on turf before joining Mick Appleby but is still definitely at his best on the AW. STREET KID is another AW specialist, he has won 2 of his last 3 since returning to this surface. He could turn up well after a couple months off.
Top Tip – WHITTLE LE WOODS (7)
One to consider – STREET KID (2)
Race 5 – Kempton Racecourse
KABOO made a positive impression when 6th on debut in the Windsor Castle at Royal Ascot. Highly tried on the turf, he made the most when downed in class to land a double over this surface at Wolverhampton and Newcastle. He’s back up in class and could take all the beating. MOJOMAKER could have more to come after a decent enough Southwell 4th but doesn’t look too dangerous.
Top Tip – KABOO (2)
One to consider – MOJOMAKER (4)
Race 6 – Kempton Racecourse
NO DIGGITY has been most unlucky to be winless since November 2020, but his last couple of C&D efforts have seen him narrowly beaten into 2nd place. Off the same 50 mark with Harry Burns taking a useful 5lb off this looks a prime opening for a deserved win. SHADOW ANGEL showed her best yet when 2nd over 7f at Chelmsford and if she builds on it with David Probert back in the irons she could contest the finish.
Top Tip – NO DIGGITY (7)
One to consider – SHADOW ANGEL (2)
Race 7 – Kempton Racecourse
RESET BUTTON has struck the crossbar in all 3 outings since winning his maiden over this trip at Wolverhampton in December. He tries the tongue-tie again and with a workable draw and David Probert in the plate, he gets the vote. BLAZER TWO has also finished 2nd the last thrice and is respected but has a lousy draw and will do very well to topple the selection.
Top Tip – RESET BUTTON (9)
One to consider – BLAZER TWO (6)
