Race 1 – Huntingdon Racecourse
ART OF ILLUSION has shown solid aptitude in all starts in these ranks, finding the frame in all 3 outings. He’s expected to sharpen up for this up in trip, having found 2nd between the flags over 3m last year. FOXINTHEBOX caught the eye when 2nd in a bumper at Aintree last year in May. He hasn’t been able to build on that just yet but can still find the podium in this sort of field.
Top Tip – ART OF ILLUSION (1)
One to consider – FOXINTHEBOX (2)
Race 2 – Huntingdon Racecourse
CALL THE FAIRIES has been doing solid work in defeat of late, coming across some seriously useful rivals. This looks an easier task for her and she’s expected to prove the one to beat. TOUGHASOLDBOOTS makes rules/UK bow for Don McCain after a couple of spins between the flags in Ireland and could go well.
Top Tip – CALL THE FAIRIES (1)
One to consider – TOUGHASOLDBOOTS (4)
Race 3 – Huntingdon Racecourse
JIMMY BELL returns from over 12 months off, last seen 2nd by a length over C&D. He’s won well off a long break before and now 2lb lower and paired with Ned Fox’s 7lb claim, could land on his feet here. LE TUEUR isn’t the most reliable performer but his sole victory came over this trip, albeit over hurdles. He’s still more than capable of a minor prize today.
Top Tip – JIMMY BELL (1)
One to consider – LE TUEUR (3)
Race 4 – Huntingdon Racecourse
NAZWA is up 4lb for a convincing success here over slightly shorter. He receives 5lb from his only opponent and looks quite capable of doubling up. WATASHOCK was a solid winner at Fakenham latest but does have a lot of work to off a 103 mark.
Top Tip – NAZWA (2)
One to consider – WATASHOCK (1)
Race 5 – Huntingdon Racecourse
LORD SPARKY is a 5 time local winner, including twice over C&D. He’s struck the crossbar the last twice and has been doing solid work in defeat since his last score in December. Now back in ideal surrounds and able to use Jack Andrews’ claim once more he gets the vote. PLANNED PARADISE is danger off the back of an unfortunate 2nd at Worcester where an error at the last obstacle cost him the race but still caused him to go up 6lb.
Top Tip – LORD SPARKY (6)
One to consider – PLANNED PARADISE (2)
Race 6 – Huntingdon Racecourse
FIGHT FOR IT left all others in the dust when home with 8 in hand in a novice event at Ludlow early this month. He’s headed for the handicaps now and looks very leniently treated off a mark of 106. ELHAM VALLEY won with ease at Warwick over this trip latest and the 7lb penalty is cancelled by Tom Broughton’s claim. Blinkers seem to have done him well and they’re kept on here.
Top Tip – FIGHT FOR IT (4)
One to consider – ELHAM VALLEY (1)
Race 7 – Huntingdon Racecourse
ODIN’S QUEST won over C&D on debut back in January and hasn’t been seen since. A similar effort now benefitting from experience can see Gary Moore’s charge hard to beat. CARRIGDOUN BOY won his own debut at Southwell and backed it up well enough when 2nd at Stratford since. A short rest should see him in top shape to challenge.
Top Tip – ODIN’S QUEST (2)
One to consider – CARRIGDOUN BOY (1)
