DUKE OF ORANGE seemed to unlock some improvement when upped to 9f here late last month. A slight increase in yardage could see him continue his progression. BLAZING LIGHT could prove too good if taking to the Polytrack. His last couple of efforts have both produced 2 subsequent winners.

EMERALD ISLA weakened late over C&D on penultimate outing after working very hard to overcome a lousy draw of 11. She took a further step forward in 4rd when upped to 10f. A slight drop in yardage and a better draw can see her get her head in front.

Race 4 – Greyville Racecourse
STAR CRUSADE found the rapid pace right up his alley when edging out a victory by a head over the extended 9f here. A drop in trip shouldn’t be an issue and if he gets another good target he could double down. ROCKY COAST isn’t the most consistent operator but he has shown plenty of glimpses of talent, including scoring here over 10f last month. A drop in trip sees him back over a winning C&D and he needs to be considered.

Race 5 – Greyville Racecourse
FISTS OF FIRE wasn’t at his best when 6th over 10f here latest. Prior to that he had done some promising work over this trip range so is capable of making amends. BEYONDTHEBOUNDARY showed ample promise in 4th on debut over turf here. He backed it up when scoring on 2nd start. Now tackling the Poly and upped in trip we could see even more from this progressive sort.

Race 6 – Greyville Racecourse
HER ROYAL MAJESTY has rattled the crossbar the last twice and has been doing good work on this surface. A return here can see her get back onto the scoreboard. SHIELD MAIDEN was building toward a pleasing maiden win in November but wasn’t able to back it up when returned last month. Now out of pole positon and dropped slightly in trip she could get back on track.

GENIE went down by a short head on AW debut in a competitive affair over C&D. He could gain compensation with his claimer replaced by the ever-capable Warren Kennedy. The pair have to overcome a shocking draw but we could see it happen. DON’T TOUCH ME has been beaten into 3rd the last twice by ¾ of a length over the mile here. A drop back to 7f could see his consistency rewarded.

CUPID’S SONG attracted market support over C&D latest and managed to justify it by a head. This looks a somewhat easier task so he could well double down. PREEMPTIVE STRIKE missed by a short head over this trip at Scottsville latest. An extra yard would have seen him score. He could gain deserved compensation, having shown promise on this surface when ½ a length 2nd in November.
