Race 2 – Greyville Racecourse
TRIDENT KING is improving with each outing and having been gelded has seen him land 4th the last twice. He’s going to have his peak run and could prove too good for this sort of field. RAIN OR SHINE was well-backed on debut and was a promising 3rd over 6f here. That run under his belt and an extra furlong could see him go well despite the wide draw.

TUPELO HONEY comes back from 168 days off having won her last 3 by ever-shrinking margins. She has to be respected if she can pick up where she left off and has run well fresh in the past. SHAPE OF YOU has been beaten favourite a few times but has done her best work on this surface over the mile here. She could get it right this time on return to what looks like an ideal C&D.

Race 4 – Greyville Racecourse
MINGSHI is a very strange horse, having given poor accounts in all bar one of his 6 outings. He won very well on penultimate outing at 33/1 over this trip on the turf here. Now tackling the AW once more he could prove it was no fluke or confirm it was. GALABIER is a C&D winner who was a decent 4th on return to this trip on yard bow for Lorenzo Karriem. He has a 6lb claimer in the plate and launches from pole positon so could be the more conventional pick.

MANHATTEN CAFE was a very promising 5th on debut over the mile here in September. He backed it up perfectly when home by a neck on the turf at Scottsville 26 days ago at 14/1 odds. He looks to be on the up and up and could be taken more seriously here now heading into the handicaps. VELVET SEASON has found the frame in 8 of 11 outings on this surface so has to be considered here.

Race 6 – Greyville Racecourse
ALL AGLOW did far better than the raw result suggests when 8th in first-time blinkers over C&D latest. She has a better swing at the weights here and could build on it with headgear retained. TIME TO ROLL has won her last 3 with merit, securing the hat trick by a short head on the turf latest. She returns to the C&D where she did her best work and could have plenty more to come.

IBUTHO was well-backed in a strong event over 10f here but could only manage 5th. He wasn’t disgraced and could make up for it now back down in trip and paired with a 9lb claimer. CAPTAIN SEAGER toppled a well-regarded rival when home over 7f here latest and is very dangerous with that under his belt. He is well-drawn and has won over this trip on the turf in the past.

Race 8 – Greyville Racecourse
HATTA has posted a couple of solid efforts in defeat since a strong maiden win over C&D in September. She’s got a wide draw to overcome but looks progressive enough now better off at the weights. HOT STRIKE has really come into her own on the turf of late, notching a narrow victory backed up by 3 straight placings. She hasn’t performer to that level on the Poly but now she’s found her way she could transfer some of it across.
