Race 1 – Fairview Racecourse
BOQUET gets the nod on debut for Alan Greeff, he knows how to ready a newcomer and only two of this field have any experience. CHERE FOR ME was a decent 3rd on debut over C&D and can sharpen for Jacques Strydom.
Top Tip – BOQUET (1)
One to consider – CHERE FOR ME (3)

BORN A STAR was coming to the boil nicely before an unfortunate case of bleeding when sent over the mile on the Polytrack here. If that issue has been tended to as it should have in the last 77 days, he could come back better than ever. GREEN TIGER hasn’t shown a lot on the Western Cape but a change of scenery and a change to the care of Zietsman Oosthuizen could foster some progress.
Top Tip – BORN A STAR (1)
One to consider – GREEN TIGER (5)
Race 3 – Fairview Racecourse
IQEMBULABESIFAZANE needed the run on local/yard bow for Gavin Smith. She has shown a few glimpses of promise and is likely to sharpen up here. LAURETTA MIA keeps the blinkers on, she has found the runner-up berth in 2 of 3 runs with them on so it seems the right call. She looks quite capable of pressing compelling claims in this field.
Top Tip – IQEMBULABESIFAZANE
One to consider – LAURETTA MIA (8)

DOPPO ORO is in good shape of late over the Polytrack and is a past C&D winner on this turf track. All his recent momentum has been on synthetic but he could recapture the past standard with his rider taking a very useful 9lb off. HOMER FIDGET wasn’t disgraced in 5th over C&D latest but was a much better ½ length 3rd prior to that in November. He has won over C&D on turf as well while remaining much less exposed on the surface.
Top Tip – DOPPO ORO (1)
One to consider – HOMER FIDGET (2)
Race 5 – Fairview Racecourse
ALADO’S PRIDE did strong late work to land 5th over the mile on the Polytrack here, landing within a length and ¾ of the front. The draw is lousy but he still has every chance of getting up here, with the extra furlong likely to suit. LAST OF THE LEGEND has been doing decent work since joining Gavin Smith and now back over turf where his early success came he could take another step forward.
Top Tip – ALADO’S PRIDE (1)
One to consider – LAST OF THE LEGEND (3)

SAFARI BLUE was last seen bolting up over the mile here on AW debut in November. Rested since, he returns to the turf where he won his maiden over C&D. A front-running type in a somewhat small field, he should go very well. PEACE IN OUR WORLD notched a nice double in mid-2021 that saw him topple some quality rivals. He hasn’t delivered much since but a rest and being gelded might see him come back with his head screwed on tight.
Top Tip – SAFARI BLUE (1)
One to consider – PEACE IN OUR WORLD (2)
Race 7 – Fairview Racecourse
GREEN LIGHT GAL was last seen eking out a trip win at Kenilworth by a neck in the final days of 2021. With that under her belt she could double down as she has been in good shape for Justin Snaith. SOUND CHECK has landed some dominant victories here on the Polytrack and could bring the standard back to turf where she has done fairly well in the past.
Top Tip – GREEN LIGHT GAL (3)
One to consider – SOUND CHECK (4)

Race 8 – Fairview Racecourse
BRASS BELL hasn’t been too far back in her last 3 outings since joining Gavin Smith. A return to the turf where she has done her best work could foster enough of a comeback. THE GHAN took a leap forward when denied into 3rd just a neck from the front over C&D. His draw isn’t good but he could overcome that with Kyle Strydom retaining the ride.
Top Tip – BRASS BELL (2)
One to consider – THE GHAN (3)
