FOREST SPY showed ample promise in 3rd on debut over C&D in January. He returned here and despite a slow start landed the spoils with a couple in hand. Gavin Smith’s colt can double down off the back of such an effort. CAVE ROCK is worth a closer look on debut for Zietsman Oosthuizen, a yard in fine form who handle their newcomers well.

TARANTINO failed to fire when beating none home latest but now under the care of Zietsman Oosthuizen and back at the Eastern Cape he could turn things around. ABAYYAAN is expected to bounce back from a lacklustre 10th at Vaal on last start for the De Kock team. Now under Juan Nel he’s fancied to return to the promise we saw in his earlier days. VANDERBILT was denied by a head over the mile here on first run for new connections. He’s likely to be on the chase for compensation.

SAILAWAY WITH ME needed the outing when 4th over 5f here on comeback from 140 days off. She’s fancied to sharpen up and could prove good enough on return to the 7f she placed here over in September. EMPERORS DECREE couldn’t back up a nice 6f win when 11th in a subsequent appeared here. Now upped to 7f again he could make amends. MASTERFUL got back into the swing of things with a win by a neck over C&D and can pick up the pieces if the selection isn’t able to turn things around.

PRINCESS KALISI is a C&D winner who is better than the 9th we saw over 10f here latest. A drop back to the mile can see Alan Greeff’s mare fire up nicely from a decent draw. BLUE DUCHESS caught the eye when 3rd over C&D at 16/1 odds and a similar showing could see her well-rewarded for Gavin Smith.

PARIS OPERA was caught late when denied over 7f here by a neck last week. She’s reverting to a winning C&D and could get her way with a similar effort from barrier 2. AFRICANROYALJEWEL is proving fairly progressive since joining Juan Nel and wasn’t disgraced in 3rd on return to C&D after a narrow win.
