BONITA B lost a shoe and turned up lame when 2nd at Windsor latest. She can make immediate amends for Mick Channon here off the same mark with William Buick taking the reins. PHINOW is of interest returning to turf, if he can replicate either of his last couple of efforts he’s a big player.

Race 2 – Epsom Downs Racecourse
CHARTWELL HOUSE caught the eye in 3rd on debut at Windsor before going down by a neck into 2nd on return there. He weathered a significant rise in grade well enough in 7th at Goodwood and is capable of getting back on track here with a first-time hood and a longer run to work with. COBALT BLUE needed the run when 11th on debut and showed up better despite running freely when 4th at Newbury. If he can settle here he’s a serious player for Roger Varian.

EVOCATIVE SPARK had issues latest when 10th, reported to suffer serous sweating and couldn’t see out the mile. His prior tri win at Chester reads well and if he’s all recovered he’s capable of returning to winning ways. OUTRUN THE STORM misfired badly in 8th at Beverley following back to back 2nd after a narrow Leicester success. He’s capable of bouncing right back off the same 77 mark.

Race 4 – Epsom Downs Racecourse
CAPTAIN HADDOCK has been out of form of late but a drop in trip and return to this C&D might see him fire up nicely. He won this 12 months ago off 3lb higher and he’s paired with a 2lb claimer today. SARATOGA GOLD is respected following a convincing Newbury success over this trip and is capable of defying a 4lb hike.

WHITE WILLOW was a very respectable 2nd at Ayr at the start of the month. Now eased in grade she’s capable of going one better and adding a second win to the tally for Richard Fahey. WISPER is looking the danger having won 3 of her last 5, all over this trip. She’s up 6lb but can remain competitive.

INTERCESSOR is in red-hot form, winning 2 of his last 3 and not being disgraced with a ½ length 2nd separating the wins. A further 4lb hike is workable and we can see plenty more here. DOURADO is a player having found 2nd by a head at Kempton latest and is arguably more effective over turf.

MARLAY PARK got home by just a short head over C&D on penultimate outing. He didn’t back it up at all at Sandown since but can recover immediately on return off 1lb lower. G’DAAY got home at Yarmouth latest and is respect off 2lb higher with Jack Mitchell retaining the ride.
