The form reads well here and he’s likely to go one better off a 1lb higher mark but now paired with a 3lb claimer. THE RAVEN’S RETURN was a respectable 2nd at Market Rasen and could continue his progression now starting for Chris Gordon.

Race 2 – Carlisle Racecourse
BARROWDALE is a winner between the flags who had to settle for 18 lengths 2nd on bumper debut. He shifted right to hurdles where he started with another 2nd before a huge 39 length victory when upped in trip at Uttoxeter last month. The hood did its job that day and he’s fancied to have more to come with Brian Hughes retaining the ride. SILVERTOWN is fresh off a win in Ireland and comes across the sea for a raid. He could take another step forward and bring home some plunder.

Race 3 – Carlisle Racecourse
UPANDATIT had plenty in hand when opening the account at Kelso latest. A 5lb hike is workable and he’s expected to continue his ascendancy. ROYAL ARCADE is a local winner over timber and has found the frame the last twice over fences. Nicky Richards’ string is in fine form and there could be more to come here off 1lb lower.

Race 4 – Carlisle Racecourse
OOT MA WAY has had a progressive season over timber and was last seen 2nd by a head over slightly shorter at Musselburgh. A similar showing might be enough to get her due compensation. TARAGRACE looks to be the one who can offer the most resistance after a strong trip win at Doncaster latest, but will have to improve after a 7lb rise.

ARD CHROS gets the vote for the red-hot Stuart Coltherd, a 10 year old lining up for a superb hat trick on return to a trip he does some of his best over. GEMIRANDE is winless since 2020 but has found the frame in both outings since returning to fences so could bring home more minor money.

MALPAS got home in good style over C&D back in October but failed to back it up on a couple of subsequent outings. He has placed the last twice and might be on his way to retracing the winning thread for Don McCain. LEWA HOUSE weakened late before having to be pulled up at Newcastle but could bounce back now dropped in trip.

WESTERN WALK has shown many glimpses of promise in these ranks including 3rd at Down Royal on Boxing Day. A similar effort can see him get up as he receives weight from rivals. MAXIMILLIAN is of obvious interest as a winner between the flags who backed it up under rules over C&D latest but has to give 7lb to the selection and might have to settle for a placing.
