POET’S DAWN was looking costly to back for a while following a few outings as beaten favourite. He left those worries behind when scoring over slightly further at Beverley at the end of August. Today’s rider takes 7lb off so the 4lb hike is not a concern. TOMMY G does his best work here and warrants ample respect whenever he appears on the Ayr card.

Race 2 – Ayr Racecourse
UNITED APPROACH didn’t have a smooth trip when hampered on debut at Ascot 25 days ago. He did very well to only be beaten a length and a quarter into 5th. This Tate colt should be much sharper for that introductory outing. REZ went down by a short head into 2nd at Pontefract 12 days ago and had a few of these in tow. He could find composition here for Richard Fahey.

WATER OF LEITH was not far beaten when 6th on the AW at Newcastle 12 days ago. A return to turf can see him go much better, especially at a course he notched a double over in August. PEARL OF QATAR is worth a closer look here, sporting a respectable local record.

Race 4 – Ayr Racecourse
JUMP THE GUN had no clear path in the Silver Cup here 10 days ago, having to settle for 5th. Off the same 90 mark with Ryan Sexton taking 5lb off we could see compensation now eased in task and afforded an extra furlong. LOVE DE VEGA has been toppled as favourite the last twice but there was a lot to be taken from his Ascot ¾ length 3rd at the start of this month.

Race 5 – Ayr Racecourse
BLOWING WIND showed massive improvement when 2nd at Thirsk following a wind operation. Off the same mark today we can see him go one better and finally exit the maidens. NORTHBOUND looks dangerous having also found 2nd best last start and is also off the same mark. These two could battle it out and make exotic appeal.

Race 6 – Ayr Racecourse
ON THE RIVER won over the mile at Thirsk on penultimate start and was far from disgraced when 2nd on double bid there off 3lb higher. Another 2lb hike isn’t unassailable and he’s expected to post another honest effort. CLASSY AL is a reliable sort who should bring home more money than he has. Well-drawn he should prove capable of contesting this sort of event.

AUSSIE WARRIOR remains unexposed as he heads in to the handicaps of a very workable 79 mark. He has shown ample promise in all 3 starts and should be able to wrangle some further improvement for James Tate. FIRST IMPRESSION has held his own in some much stronger fields of late and warrants plenty of respect eased in grade.

Race 8 – Ayr Racecourse
SCOTTISH DANCER found marked improvement when 2nd by a neck at Newcastle after being upped in trip. Handed a 3lb rise for the effort, he could get the job done here dropped slightly in trip. TOMORROW’S ANGEL showed good staying ability when 3rd at Ripon latest and has been eased 1lb for the effort. She’s likely to enter the equation here.
