FONNER PARK PICKS: 27/05/20
As it is set to conclude 2020 Thoroughbred racing on Wednesday 27 May.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, racing operations were amended to host “no spectator” racing on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday basis for the scheduled meet that concluded on April 29. The track was then approved for a 12-day second season extension of racing that was subsequently shortened to 11 total additional days.
The final day of racing at Fonner Park boasts a nine-card race.
RACE 1
BEST BET: RYRYSWEETIE
Ryrysweetie had strong company in close attendance when successful here last time and could continue that rich vein of form and land a hat-trick of wins. The two placegetters from that race merit respect, while Moonfield is a consistent operator who has to be considered back down to this trip.
RACE 2
BEST BET: FLANAGAN
Both Sleepy Turtle and Radicator won their maidens in fine fashion, most notably the former who scored by over nine lengths. Both have claims on that, but Flangan showed up really well for second in a similar race to this last time and could go one better.
RACE 3
BEST BET: P R STREAKIN
P R Streakin had Ragtop Red behind when second over track and trip earlier this month and holds a number of his rivals on past form. He can gain reward for his consistency here. Amy’s Shadow has run some good races in defeat and is interesting against the boys in this. P R Streakin has placed in four of nine starts.

RACE 4
BEST BET: DIRTY DIXIE ROAD
Although Personal Cat was behind Dorothe Marie last time, their previous two encounters had been won by Mark Lemburg’s mare and she could be the better of the two here. They both may struggle to peg back Dirty Dixie Road if she repeats the form of her all-the-way success here last time. She has won four times from 5f to 1m.
RACE 5
BEST BET: ALEX OF ICE
Alex of Ice followed up a good win at Mahoning Valley with a close-up second here last time and can confirm the form with Drastic en route to success. Creeds Revenge got within a length of success here latest and is another to note. Alex of Ice has however been successful twice at 6f.
RACE 6
BEST BET: JUDGE ON THE RUN
Judge on the Run beat the majority of the field when justifying cramped odds here just over a fortnight ago, and she is the one they all have to beat again. Question Markie won well on her latest outing, while it was Chamber Doors who got the closest to the selection 16 days ago. Judge on the Run won is the winner of seven races from f4 to 1m.

RACE 7
BEST BET: SAYGOODNIGHTGRACIE
It is difficult to get away from Saygoodnightgracie in this claimer, because she has won three of her last four and finished second on the other occasion. Star Hunter and Memories Galore are the main dangers but Saygoodnightgracie is in too good of form to overlook.
RACE 8
BEST BET: BEST BET CHEVERIE
Cheverie has proved she’s well up to winning an allowance optional claimer like this when finishing a one-and-a-half-length second here 15 days ago. A good winner the time before that, she is clearly in good nick and gets a confident vote to see off Indy N Roses and May Flowers. Cheverie has won eight races from 6f to 1m.
RACE 9
BEST BET: S C ANGEL
This should be a pretty straight forward race. S C Angel has been hammering on the door in similar claimers to this of late and could be let in this time, possibly at the chief expense of Ebony Nights and Pretty Rich.
