It’s opening day at Belmont Park. We’ve got you covered with free picks and race-by-race analysis as New York Racing Association resumes horseracing at Belmont Park with a 25-day festival, starting today.
RACE 1
BEST BET: LOST IN ROME
LOST IN ROME has shaped with plenty of promise in both starts thus far and it could be a case of third-time lucky for Robert Klesaris’ charge. There are plenty of others with claims, however, including Vero Sun and Tipazo.
RACE 2
BEST BET: BRAY
Honos Man won readily last time and warrants plenty of respect looking to follow up, while Mandate should also run well under John Velazquez. However, BRAY is less exposed than both after only two, promising, starts and he edges the vote.
RACE 3
BEST BET: PRISONER
PRISONER has shaped with plenty of promise in recent workouts and he is taken to make a winning debut for Todd Pletcher and Irad Ortiz. Fauci and Tourrista are other interesting players.
Belmont Park Picks: 03 JUNE 2020
RACE 4
BEST BET: BUSTIN THE RULES
BUSTIN THE RULES certainly wasn’t winning out of turn over 6f at Aqueduct and with that confidence booster under his belt, he might be able to follow up. Amongst the dangers are Moneymeister, Business Cycle and Stone Breaker.
RACE 5
BEST BET: CRESCENT LADY
CRESCENT LADY lowers her sights and looks a danger to all now operating at this level. Big runs from Saratoga Love and Strongerthanuknow could also be on the cards.
RACE 6
BEST BET: PASSIVE INVESTING
PASSIVE INVESTING left a favourable impression when landing a Keeneland maiden by a nose in October and looked one to keep on the right side of, given her attitude. Bareeqa and English Soul are others to note.
RACE 7
BEST BET: DAITHI
DAITHI shaped with plenty of promise when third on debut at Aqueduct and should come on plenty for that outing, likewise Forest Spirit. Bronze Lion and Inside Info are also worth considering for the minor money.
RACE 8
BEST BET: HAY DAKOTA
Conviction Trade, The Last Zip and Arthur Kitt all merit plenty of respect in a wide-open contest but the nod goes to HAY DAKOTA, after he was only narrowly denied in a Grade 3 contest at Gulfstream Park last time.
RACE 9
BEST BET: GOT STORMY
GOT STORMY, who is a multiple Grade 1 winner, was only just beaten at the highest level against the colts when last seen and the five-year-old appears to be the one to beat. Rushing Fall beat the selection last April but her lack of a recent run is a concern, while Fifty Five and Call Me Love are others to note.
RACE 10
BEST BET: IN THE LOOP
IN THE LOOP was a bit disappointing when last seen but his previous effort in Grade 3 company offers plenty of encouragement for his chances today. Our Stormin Norman is more than capable of making the frame, while similar comments apply to Beach Front.
