The 4th has franked the form since and it looks highly likely that Charlie Fellowes’ colt goes one better today. ROMAN SPRING is worth a look on debut for Richard Hannon, sporting some useful names in the family tree.

Race 2 – Chelmsford Racecourse
MR FUSTIC does all his best work on this surface and can make an immediate bounce back from a lacklustre 7th at Epsom when sent over turf. He remains fairly treated off a 70 mark and should be able to recover some confidence here. BOULIVAR is also shaping up to be an AW specialist. We can look past his last couple over turf and expect him to be present in the mix here.

TWILIGHT SECRET was a convincing winner at Wolverhampton latest on return to the Polytrack. A similar showing here off the same mark could take plenty of beating. MISS BELLA BRAND is up 5lb for a solid C&D success last month. She remains competitive off a 69 mark and cannot be ignored.

OPEN MIND won his maiden over C&D back in April and has landed in the money in all 4 runs since. A return here off a mark just 4lb higher could see him return to winning ways. APHELIOS is a progressive sort who has found the frame in all 5 runs to date. He ha since joined Mick Appleby and should have a big effort in store under James Doyle.

SOOGHAN showed ample potential in a few novice/maiden events over turf before shifting to this surface and edging a narrow success at Southwell. Now upped in trip again on handicap bow, he looks to have a workable mark of 81. DUTY BOUND is the danger as a trip winner on the hunt for a bounce back following a lacking effort in a valuable handicap at Haydock. This Royal Runner could be anything now tackling the Poly for the first time.

SMART CONTENDER hasn’t shown a whole lot to date but a 72 mark could see him effective a fairly moderate contest. A return to 10f and the switching of surface could spark plenty of improvement. BOASTY is a C&D winner who doesn’t run a bad race since joining Ivan Furtado. He’s capable of getting in the way here off a 63 mark.
