BOLD ACT was a strong debutante when 2nd over C&D late last month. With that run to work with and William Buick taking the ride, we can see Charlie Appleby’s colt go one better. GO SENATOR GO had everything go against him when 5th of 6 on debut over the mile at Windsor. Now running with some experience we could see marked improvement.

Race 2 – Newmarket Racecourse
PRINCE OF BEL LIR has been in top shape for most of this year, winning 3 of his last 5. Cheekpieces have definitely had the desired effect here and he can get another win to his name off an 84 mark. COUNSEL returns to handicaps after blowing them away with 6+ in hand in a novice at Lingfield. He could come knocking for the Gosdens.

CASTLE WAY gets the vote on debut for Charlie Appleby, with James Doyle a pleasing booking. He is well-bred and should be similarly well-prepared for the run. LENORMAND was a fair 6th on debut at Newbury and should sharpen plenty for the experience and may well relish the extra furlong.

JUST AMBER toppled a short priced favourite a Nottingham latest and looks primed to back it up under penalty. FULFILLED was well-backed when home by ¾ of a length over C&D on penultimate run. Far from disgraced in 3rd at Sandown since, a return here can see a bounce back.

Race 5 – Newmarket Racecourse
ALMAAN isn’t the most consistent sort around but is nonetheless very capable on his day. He’s entering in winning form following a win here over the mile that has been boosted since by the 4th. He has hinted at trip suitability in the past and could get it right with the right wind up. GODDESS OF FIRE is respected and dangerous as she comes down in class following a well-beaten 3rd in a small field at Yarmouth.

Race 6 – Newmarket Racecourse
CHASING APHRODITE is 2 from 2 under rules and has a superb hat trick on the line. Now going handicapping over ideal C&D, he looks hard to beat but a 92 mark could leave him with work to do. BASHOSH was a good 2nd on comeback run and has since been gelded. He could come hard and foil the selection off an 89.
