Race 2 – Ayr Racecourse
COSMOS RAJ needed the run when 6th in the soft at Ripon 12 days ago and was lowered 1lb for the effort. David O’Meara has his string in good shape and if his charge can pick up where he left off last year now on good ground, he’s a big player. TILSITT hasn’t been great the last twice but a return to his last winning C&D off 5lb higher could see a bounce.

SHALLOW HAL has rattled the crossbar the last twice and has been coming to the boil for some time prior. He’s C&D proven and a 12lb lower turf mark could see him pounce. VENTURA FLAME had a decent 2021 and rates a danger on comeback outing.

CLANSMAN showed us small glimpses of promise in his early days but was a surprise 50/1 winner at Redcar over this trip on his first outing for Liam Bailey and as a gelding. He earned a manageable 4lb hike for that display and could back it up now the penny has dropped. AL QAASIM is in top form, winning or placing in his last 6 appearances over both surface types.

BREAKING LIGHT caught the eye when ¾ of a length 2nd on debut at 10/1 odds over C&D. Karl Burke’s filly will have learned plenty and can build enough to go one better here. ESPRESSOO showed her best yet when ½ a length 2nd back in October at Leicester. She’s likely to relish the extra furlong here and could give the selection a run for her money.

RORY need the run when 5th to the reopposing ROSE BANDIT over this trip at Musselburgh 10 days ago. Now he’s fighting fit and 1lb lower he can reverse the form with a rival who is now 4lb worse off.

CHOOKIE DUNEDIN was denied a hat trick by ½ a length over this trip at Catterick. A 2lb higher mark can see him recover immediately on his 2nd turf run this year. TASKHEER caught the eye in 3rd at Musselburgh 10 days back and does look the sort to have a bright future for Ed Bethell.
