STEINBECK is a regally-bred Justin Snaith gelding who has found 2nd the last thrice, including over 7f at Kenilworth by just ¾ of a length in late January. He is most deserving of his maiden win and could get it done over what should be an ideal trip. CLAP OF THUNDER was coming to the boil before a few months off and returns a gelding. If he picks up where he left off he can prove very dangerous.

RED KITE stayed well when 2nd by a neck when upped to this trip at Kenilworth latest. Another attempt at this trip could see her duly compensated if the wide draw can be overcome. ZIPPY OVER was right behind the selection in 3rd in a blanket finish that day. She’s got ample scope for improvement and could make up the difference from a better draw.

WARRIOR BLING stays well and has a good record here, he’s well-equipped to stake his claim here. SUINDAY ISLAND opened the account with 5 in hand over 10f on penultimate run before a very respectable 3rd in a valuable handicap over this trip at Fairview. He’s well-drawn and one to be taken seriously for Willem Nel.

DIFFERENT FACE slid down the ratings and found a pocket of form without actually winning. She’s back down in trip and won’t have to build much on her recent efforts to get a deserved 2nd win under her belt for the Snaith team. SEEKING PEACE was a place behind the selection last they met and is worse off at the weights. Mike Stewart’s filly can still get some minor money out of this engagement.

Race 6 – Durbanville Racecourse
CASA INVERNO was a strong 4th in defeat in a strong field against the boys over slightly further at Kenilworth. That came off the back off a neck win at the same course over this trip. She’s in good form and looks capable of pressing her claims on return to a C&D she is 3 from 3 over. HIGH HOSANNA won over this trip on debut and wasn’t disgraced when 4th tackling 7f at Kenilworth. She’s back over her ideal range and could build on some promising efforts of late.

HYDE PARK beat none home over this trip at Kenilworth latest, but has been eased in grade for the effort. He has 2 wins and a placing from 4 attempts over C&D so could regain some confidence here. LION’S HEAD hasn’t been far beaten the last twice at Kenilworth and is deserving of respect as he enters peak fitness.

BYE BYE BOMBSHELL got her head in front by a ½ length ahead of a reopposing rival over the mile at Kenilworth. She concedes weight from a wide draw but might be able to build on the effort now dropped back in trip. GOING UP has exceptional pedigree and won with a couple in hand on debut over 6f at Kenilworth. Not disgraced when a length 5th on handicap bow in a better field, she should go well now upped in trip and fighting fit.
