Richard Fahey’s yard is in good form of late and we can see another impressive effort here despite a 7lb penalty. CALL ME HARRY is the danger under penalty for his own debut win at Musselburgh but wasn’t quite as impressive as the selection.

Race 2 – Newcastle Racecourse
GOODTIMES BADTIMES showed no signs of slowing down when home with 9 in hand to open the account sporting first-time cheekpieces at Ayr latest. An up in trip could help him weather the 9lb hike, dampened by Edward Austin’s 3lb claim. FREETHINKER was a career-best 2nd at Lingfield over 1f further when last seen in November. If not in need of the run he could build on that effort off 2lb higher.

Race 3 – Newcastle Racecourse
BOB’S BAR was overtaken in the final couple of hurdles over the extended 19f at Catterick on New Year’s Day. Don McCain’s charge has since had wind surgery and could gain meaningful compensation now down in trip despite a penalty. ONWARD ROUTE was a pleasing enough 3rd on comeback run after 344 days off and wind surgery of his own. He has yet to finish outside the frame over timber and should enter calculations.

Race 4 – Newcastle Racecourse
SOUNDS RUSSIAN has won his last couple over fences by dominant margins. A further 11lb hike won’t stop him putting a strong foot forward on hat trick bid as he makes his way to Cheltenham for a shot at the big time. COURT MASTER could offer the most resistance, having found the frame the last twice in competitive handicaps including a G3 at Cheltenham in December.

Race 5 – Newcastle Racecourse
PEACEFUL SUNDAY returned from 203 days too to post a very encouraging 4th in a Fairyhouse bumper. Now coming back across the Irish Sea, we could see another foot forward on return to timber. DEDANSER wasn’t able to see out the extended 3m when 4th at Haydock but bounced back well enough when 2nd at Wetherby when dropped to a similar trip to this one. He could go one better now sporting cheekpieces.

Race 6 – Newcastle Racecourse
EDMOND DANTES fired up far too late to land a blow when 4th over hurdles here. Now making chase bow off a workable 84 mark we could see him continue his progression. ROLERRULER has to be respected off a mark 12lb lower than his hurdling figure. He has shown a mixed bag of results in these ranks but is undoubtedly capable of winning an event like this.

Race 7 – Newcastle Racecourse
MILLARVILLE was doing solid work in defeat over fences before returning to timber for a dominant 15 length win. She has since changed hands to the Harriet & Rutherford team but off 7lb higher could tear it up once more. ROXANYA could prove challenging after a couple of decent 3rd place finishes in these ranks. Brian Hughes retains the ride and the pair could bring home more money.

Race 8 – Newcastle Racecourse
HALF TRACK got home by ½ a length at Ayr and should remain competitive off 4lb higher. He is likely to benefit from a longer trip here. With Sean Quinlan retaining the ride. SCOTTISH ACCENT landed a convincing win in the chase ranks when last seen and has to be respected returning to timber where he is yet to win.
