Race 2 – Sedgefield Racecourse
DUBAI DAYS concedes weight all round but still looks the one to beat off the back of a win at Ayr in 3rd start over fences. A useful hurdler to boot, this versatile Alexander charge should continue to improve in these ranks. COOPER’S CROSS has won here and is in a good form of late. A further 1lb rise isn’t going to keep him out of the equation.

CAILIN DEARG is in excellent heart of late, winning her last couple with authority. A further 8lb rise may not deter her from a powerful C&D hat trick. SON OF THE SOMME took a tremendous leap forward when a neck 2nd on handicap bow at Doncaster in November. With that under his belt he could be in a spot to challenge despite the 6lb rise.

Race 4 – Sedgefield Racecourse
ANNIES PRAYER needed the run when 4th on comeback at Newcastle last month. With that under his belt he could take another step toward a deserved win in these ranks. THREE CASTLES is up 6lb for a gutsy Musselburgh score that saw him shed the maiden tag with authority. He could have plenty more to come over this ideal trip.

GALILEO SILVER has become a new horse since being fitted with blinkers, winning his last couple by 11 and 16 lengths, respectively. A hefty 9lb has been added but the sheer merit of his runs means he should take a lot of beating. ROAD WARRIOR was never in danger of losing over C&D latest and could put forth stiff enough resistance.

Race 6 – Sedgefield Racecourse
DON HERBAGER showed his best yet when scoring with 3+ in hand at Lingfield latest. Now going up in trip again off a 5lb higher mark, and sporting first-time cheekpieces we can see another foot forward for the in-form Venetia Williams string. CUDGEL never recovered from an early error when 27 lengths 3rd at Kelso latest. He is entitled to bounce back as he has done plenty of good without winning in this sphere.

LIME DROP is having her peak run and is fresh off a superb hat trick. A further 8lb rise will be felt but she doesn’t seem to have reached her ceiling yet and looks hard to oppose. ALRIGHT MARLENE showed plenty of mettle when scoring by ½ a length at Catterick on New Year’s Day after wind surgery. She could put forth a strong account with the 5lb rise dampened by Alex Edwards’ 3lb claim.

ICEMAN DENNIS showed ample promise on debut when 2nd by a short head at Newcastle last month. With that run to work from we can see Don McCain’s charge go one better here. ONTHEROUGE is the pick of the newcomers for Peter Niven, the yard is very familiar with the bloodline and we should expect good things here.
