In what is a major blow for trainer Roger Varian and his stable, leading 1000 Guineas contender Daahyeh is out of the Classic.
It’s definitely not the news we wanted to hear.
The Albany Stakes winner at Royal Ascot, who was last seen finishing a gallant second to Sharing in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf race at Santa Anita in November has suffered an injury setback.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Varian was disappointed in the news.
“She’ll miss out on the Guineas, she’s had a problem so she will not be validated on Monday.” he said.
“She will certainly (returning) be mid-July onward I assume.
“We’re dismayed regarding it, she would certainly have been a competitor without a doubt. Her account would certainly check out effectively because race, yet it’s not to be this year.”
“Hopefully Daahyeh will be back later in the year.”
The Newmarket trainer hoped that she’d come on, however time in the end was the enemy.
“We’ve been up against it for a little while – of course, if we could have got to the Guineas we’d have given her every chance, but we’ve lost the race against time with her.
“We’ve accepted that now and we can take our time and concentrate on getting her 100 percent for July onwards.”
In other Guineas news, Pinatubo and Arizona are set to do battle once more in the 2000 Guineas.
