MOURNE LASS is respected off the back of a much-improved 2nd at Carlisle at 10/1 a month ago. She can handle the soft so she might go just as well in the heavy going today.

Race 2 – Wetherby Racecourse
BROOMFIELDS KAN caught the eye in 2nd at Ayr latest and now down in trip might be able to find a deserved win in the chase ranks. STAMINA CHOPE is interesting reverting to fences for the first time since her days across the Channel. She looks fairly appealing off a low mark of 94 and could be a surprise performer.

Race 3 – Wetherby Racecourse
RITSON unlocked good improvement after wind surgery but wasn’t a fan of the up in trip at Newcastle on penultimate run. He made amends when 2nd over 17 at Carlisle and should enjoy a drop back to 2m for the in-form Rebecca Menzies. CARTONNE is respected off a penultimate 2nd to a very well-backed and regarded rival over C&D. He didn’t quite build on it in 3rd at Doncaster since but is still capable of making his presence felt.

Race 4 – Wetherby Racecourse
FONTANA ELLISSI came within ½ a length of a double when beaten into 2nd at Taunton latest over slightly further. Off a 1lb higher perch he could bounce straight back provided he doesn’t struggle in the mud. JANTE LAW is the danger, hunting for a superb hat trick, but may be vulnerable on comeback from 310 days off.

Race 5 – Wetherby Racecourse
SEVEN NO TRUMPS won with enough in hand on chased bow at Lingfield to justify market support on his subsequent appearance at Market Rasen. Unfortunately he could only manage a well-held 3rd after going up 9lb. Now dropped 1lb and rested, the form has been franked handsomely and he’s worth chancing once more for the powerful Skelton boys. BUSTER VALTENTINE has found the frame in all 4 completed outings since joining the Walford team. He’s now 4lb below his last winning mark and could put the final foot forward if able to keep the selection in check.

MOTOWN LAKE was a very impressive winner when home with 9 in hand on 2nd attempt over fences. The tongue-tie and cheekpieces combination stays on and he can double down off 9lb higher if he doesn’t mind the heavy ground. THE VERY THING is the danger off the back of his impressive 3 length win at eye-watering 66/1 odds at Catterick back in January. He’s up 5lb for the effort and should attract much more support here.

Race 7 – Wetherby Racecourse
GREY DAWNING had everything in control when home with 4+ in hand over C&D on debut back in late December. He’s got every chance of doubling up for Dan Skelton in this 4 horse field. ROYAL MOGUL can chase him home after being beaten into the same place by a neck over C&D early last month.
