VIVA LAVILLA gets the nod for Dan Skelton as he comes down in grade following a couple of respectable efforts in defeat at G2 level following his maiden hurdle victory at Lingfield in November. ABUFFALOSOLDIER showed plenty to like in a couple of bumpers, landing 3rd then scoring at Southwell on 2nd outing. He made a seamless transition to timber, scoring at Wincanton last month and looks quite capable of backing it up.

ERNE RIVER had a brief but fruitful flat career in France before joining Nick Kent. He has won 2 of 3 over timber and looks progressive enough to build on his cross-code hat trick after tearing it up on chase bow at Doncaster last month. UNCLE ALASTAIR has entered a strange pattern of a placed effort followed by a long break and a wind surgery. He won a bumper here on debut in 2017 and might be good enough to recapture some of the magic.

Race 3 – Wetherby Racecourse
UP FOR PAROL won his sole start here back in March with 6+ in hand and makes most appeal coming down in class. Last seen a very respectable 6th at Listed level at Kempton he should take some stopping here. FLASH THE STEEL demands respect as a past G3 winner for the mighty Dan Skelton. He does have 445 day absence to account for so might be in need of the outing.

HASANKEY has a hat trick firm in the crosshair following a couple of effortless victories including a 48 length romp at Fontwell on penultimate outing. He won his sole start here over timber back in 2019 and looks quite the runner, despite a 9lb rise in the ratings. THOMAS MACDONAGH has found the frame the last twice and wouldn’t be winning out of turn on return to this track.

Race 5 – Wetherby Racecourse
DHOWIN backed up 3 straight 3rd place finishes with a front-running ¾ length 2nd at Warwick late last month. A shortened trip and a similar sort of ride could see him go one better. FIRAK was a respectable enough 3rd at Chepstow on 2nd start over fences, albeit in a 4 horse race. He could benefit immensely from an up in trip today.

BEAT BOX unlocked serious improvement when a 6 length winner at 16/1 at Ayr when returned from a wind operation. He has had a short freshener since and looks capable of backing it up despite a hefty 10lb hike. AZOF DES MOTTES found a clever sort too good when 7 lengths 2nd over C&D latest at 40/1 odds. He can give another strong account off an unchanged mark.

DUTY CALLS has sharpened up across 3 outings over timber and could pounce in calmer waters based on his length 2nd over 2m at Kelso on penultimate outing. WILLIAM CODY was last seen ½ a length 2nd at Fakenham latest behind a subsequent winner so warrants serious consideration off 1lb higher.
