Race 1 – Goodwood Racecourse
SECRET STATE kicked things off with a most promising 2nd at Newmarket. He has gone on to win all 3 subsequent outings, including the King George V at Royal Ascot. A 7lb hike may well not be enough to stop him, with William Buick retaining the ride. SOULCOMBE has hat trick on the line but looks unlucky to be up against the selection. That said, can’t be ruled out for top connections.

Race 2 – Goodwood Racecourse
HEREDIA won her first 4 in a row in impressive fashion before having to settle for 3rd when upped to Listed level at Sandown at the start of the month. We may attribute that to fatigue and she looks a very big player if she can bounce back. SOFT WHISPER has won her last couple, including latest at Listed level at Chelmsford. She’s got her work cut out here but is capable of pressing her hat trick bid.

Race 3 – Goodwood Racecourse
WALBANK made a strong start to life under rules when 2nd at Ascot in May before going on to win with 7 in hand at York. Confident connections sent him off into the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot where he landed 2nd following a stumble. Chances are he would have won without that unnecessary exertion. This looks an ideal opening for deserved compensation. ROCKET RODNEY could have something to say having won with 2+ in hand at Listed level at Sandown latest. He won his maiden over C&D back in April and can take this out in stride.

Race 4 – Goodwood Racecourse
BAAEED is extremely hard to look past, having won all 8 outings in good style, including the Queen Anne at Royal Ascot last month. He has enormous momentum and looks set to notch his 5th Group 1 running. ALCOHOL FREE is respected as the winner of this 12 months ago and is in winning form after taking out the July Cup. That said, he has a very difficult task ahead of him and may have to settle for minor honours.

Race 5 – Goodwood Racecourse
SEA SPEEDWELL made a fair impression in 3rd on debut over the AW at Kempton before going on to win there next start. She had to settle for ¾ of a length 2nd on turf bow at Leicester over this trip and could go one better now going handicapping off a mark of 81. NATASHA made a strong return to action when 3rd at Newmarket and should find more now fighting fit.

Race 6 – Goodwood Racecourse
THE PLATINUM QUEEN won on debut at Ripon before not being disgraced midfield in the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot. The experience did her good as she went on to win at York with 3+ in hand. She can take this one out on her way to bigger and better. ALL THE TIME is a fellow debut winner but she could not land a single blow in the Queen Mary. She’s capable of getting into the frame now eased.

THE ATTORNEY has been doing good work without living and makes fair appeal for win purposes now eased in grade. He has good local form and should be able to make the most of this opening. WILD LION remains fairly unexposed and was last seen ¾ of a length 3rd over this trip at Leicester on comeback run. Race fitness can see him challenge with Frankie Dettori a pleasing presence.
