ALMA MATER seems to have found form of late, coming close the last twice since being refitted with blinkers. He has the best of the draws and is fresh from a couple of months rest. FIRU STAR was an eye-catching runner up on debut at 22/1 odds. The winner has boosted the form since, but the drop in trip may not be ideal.

FANTASTIC IMPACT chased home a speedy rival over C&D last month and now launching from the same draw of 1 could go one better if no rivals try to make him work for it from the front again. DENVER is worth a closer look on debut for Alyson Wright, sporting a few useful names in the family tree.

Race 3 – Greyville Racecourse
ARION OF ADRAST showed serious improvement when shifted to the Polytrack over a slightly shorter trip here. Now launching from pole positon she could take another big step forward. SPIRIT OF NUNA wasn’t anything special on debut at Scottsville back in August but is worth another go now tackling the Poly and a longer trip. Bonus points on riding arrangements with Warren Kennedy being very eye-catching.

Race 4 – Greyville Racecourse
SMART WILLIAM is in a good pocket of form since joining Peter Muscutt and being fitted with blinkers. He has finished in the money in 9 of 10 runs since shifting and can add another score to the tally as he launches from the best of the draws. CANE LIME ‘N SODA fought to the end to secure a short head victory here over slightly longer yardage. The win seems deserved but he needs to back it up with a credible effort today in order to progress.

Race 5 – Greyville Racecourse
FLYING GRACE has found the money in all 6 outings since being acquired by Clinton Binda. His sole win has come over this trip and a return to the Polytrack could see further progression as he lines up from barrier one. GENTLEMAN’S WAY has finished 5th the last twice but both times has finished close to the front including when just a half-length back over 7f here. He is doing better than it seems and does his best work on this surface.

Race 6 – Greyville Racecourse
TREAD SWIFTLY ran a belter to find victory by a neck over this trip on the turf here. He is 2 from 3 over Poly so the return is not a concern. This will require improvement but Peter Muscutt’s charge looks capable enough. BURNING WINGS has a win and 3 places on this surface and was a good 3rd on comeback from a short spell over 6f here. The return to 7f is ideal and he should perform well from a solid draw of 2.

IMBEJEJE showed ample promise with a couple of good runner up finishes in her first couple of starts. She eventually delivered on them when scoring by a short head over C&D last month. She enjoys the speedy conditions here and should be right there at the end. CASA ROSADA has proven to be a revelation since joining Garth Puller and being introduced to this surface. She has placed in both C&D efforts and should prove difficult to keep out of the frame.

KINGS ROAD has an exciting hat trick lined up as he lines up for another go at 6f. He is likely to set the pace and from a better draw today could take a lot of catching. GIACOMO PUCCINI is in calmer waters after battling hard and finding the frame in tough events the last twice.
