BLUE TRAIL was too green to win but was still a most pleasing runner up over this trip on debut at Newcastle. He is a well-bred type who should be able to go one better with some basic improvement. DOUBLE DARE YOU is the newcomer worth a look for Clive Cox, keep an eye and see if any money goes his way.

SANDS CHORUS is back from a couple of failed efforts over timber and if allowed to get an early lead could take all the beating in this sort of event. FIRAMENT does possess ability but he seems most effective over 7f so will have to improve to land any blows.

Race 4 – Southwell Racecourse
EAGLEWAY gets the nod to double down under 5lb penalty after a solid C&D win following a couple of much-improved efforts on this surface since being fitted with cheekpieces. EDRAAK won with a couple in hand over this trip at Kempton in December before not being disgraced in 3rd at conditions level. Tom Marquand keeps the ride and the pair could bring more to the table for Mick Appleby.

PRINCE ABU doesn’t always get away gracefully but often does excellent late work to cancel that fact out. He has been in good heart of late and could unlock another gear over this longer trip. DENABLE has been narrowly denied over this trip range the last twice including over C&D in December. Off a 55 mark he could apply plenty of pressure to the selection as he chases a deserved maiden win.

Race 6 – Southwell Racecourse
FREEWHEELIN was last seen narrowly denied when 3rd by ¾ of a length over C&D in mid-December. Off a 1lb higher perch, Tom Tate’s charge can recapture the standard of his surprise 80/1 win at Newcastle in October. TALKING ABOUT YOU is a quality hurdler who has shown ample promise on the flat. Last seen 4th at Wolverhampton on return to the flat/AW, she can take another step toward a maiden flat win.

PATSY FAGAN has been in a good pocket of form of late, winning well over C&D and not being disgraced on double bid when 3rd at Wolverhampton. He can win off a 70 rating and looks the one to beat here. TYGER BAY showed a revival of prospects when 2nd by a neck over this trip at Kempton 20 days ago. He should be on the premises once more off a 1lb higher mark.

OOH IS IT is having the run of his life, winning 4 of his last 6 outings. His latest Wolverhampton score sees him up 4lb but he still seems within the pocket of a winnable rating. ORNATE is 15lb below his last winning mark, which was back in March. He was ½ a length behind the selection at Wolverhampton earlier in the month and won’t have to dig too deep to challenge.
