MYKONOS ST JOHN made all to score here over 7f on first outing since joining Simon Dixon. He is back up to the mile and escapes penalty as that was an apprentice event. He can back it up with Jonathan Fisher able to use his full 5lb claim here. MUHALHEL weakened late over C&D when 2nd at 20/1 and could improve for that comeback effort off 1lb higher.

Race 2 – Southwell Racecourse
SOI DAO took a fair step forward when a length 3rd over 7f here latest and the step to the mile could be enough to see him make 3rd time lucky. CHANSON D’AMOUR is respected having earned a 67 rating but didn’t seem to enjoy this surface back in September. Much better over turf, we could see things change now under the care of Alice Haynes.

DAAFY has won 2 of his last 3, including over C&D a week ago. He looks to have plenty of scope for improvement and can double up under a 5lb penalty. TWENTYSHARESOFGREY went down by a nose over C&D on penultimate outing before gaining due compensation when dropped to 6f here latest. A 5lb rise seems fair and she should remain competitive back up in trip.

Race 4 – Southwell Racecourse
ATRAFAN landed a hat trick capped off with a C&D win by a neck before misfiring over 6f here latest. A 2lb drop can see him bounce straight back. DIVINE CONNECTION has been winless for some time now but his latest C&D 4th inspired some hope he might be on the way back up.

Race 5 – Southwell Racecourse
IFYOUDARE had more control over the race than the margin suggests when home over C&D by ½ a length. Mark Johnston’s colt has been in good form of late and can double down off just 3lb higher. TIPPERARY TIGER is in cracking form and is 2 from 2 over C&D so could offer more than enough resistance.

Race 6 – Southwell Racecourse
BANANA left a positive impression in his first 3 outings before completely misfiring on nursery debut at Salisbury back in September. Since picked up by Simon Dixon she could go well now tackling the AW. FLAMING DAWN kicked things off with a pleasing win over this trip at Kempton but will do very well to concede weight all round.

MAHARASHTRA has really improved for an up in trip of late, notching a nice C&D double and not being disgraced when ½ a length 2nd over 12f here early in the month. A return to this trip can foster an immediate return to winning ways. BY JOVE is respected for Mick Appleby having struck the crossbar over C&D latest and should enter the mix despite a 2lb rise and no longer being paired with a 7lb claimer.

Race 8 – Southwell Racecourse
RETICENT won effortlessly at Lingfield over 10f in January before landing last when racing too freely in a 4 horse field at Wolverhampton over 12f. An attempt at 11f might be the sweet spot to get Andrew Balding’s filly a post-maiden victory. ASK PETER has improved measurably with each run to date and looks set to benefit from an extra furlong after rattling the crossbar over 10f at Lingfield earlier this month.
