MIDNIGHT LION showed plenty to work with when 4th on debut at Newmarket in August. He built on it nicely when 2nd at Goodwood since, with trip and experience serving him well. He can go one better here down in class, with Hollie Doyle taking the ride. FORCEFUL SPEED landed 2nd over this trip at Newcastle following a short head maiden win and should remain competitive if able to bring the standard across surfaces.

REWARD SMILE has found himself in the money in all 4 starts to date, including 3rd in a higher class handicap at Ayr latest. He’s fancied to get the account open here with Saffie Osborne taking a nice 3lb off. SASSY BELLE could be the danger, an unexposed sort who has found the frame in all 3 outings.

IMPROVISE has had to settle for 2nd best the last twice but should be fitter for the latest effort at Epsom. A slight drop in trip and the booking of Hollie Doyle could foster a bounce back. MY SILENT SONG was a fair 4th in a higher grade at Thirsk a month back. A drop in trip and 1lb lighter mark sees her a fair option.

FLAT WHITE returned from some promising efforts over timber to notch a dominant double over 2m at Catterick. She has an exciting shot at an impressive hat trick and should take plenty of beating despite going up in trip and carrying 5lb more. WYNFORD is respected having won this 12 months ago and recently rediscovered winning ways. He is 4lb higher than last year but can still prove up to task for Rebecca Menzies.

GAINSBOURG was last seen winning with an authoritative couple of lengths in hand over C&D in first-time cheekpieces. A similar effort off 6lb higher could prove tough to peg back. MENELAUS enters the radar off the back of a superb ¾ length 3rd at 20/1 odds at Ayr latest. The soft going is a concern but he’s unexposed enough to receive the benefit of the doubt.

SOBEGRAND was too green to land the final blow when 2nd on debut at Kempton. He’s well-bred and should sharpen nicely now running with experience and afforded more yardage. REACH has a bit of work to do but has shown a good attitude and could eke it out now upped in trip.

PATONTHEBACK caught the eye when ½ a length 3rd after being dropped to this trip at Ripon late last month. A similar effort off 1lb higher could see him back on the scoreboard. CARLTON AND CO is a contender having been beaten by just a head when 3rd over C&D in mid-September.

SWEET GLANCE enters with strong compensation claims to press following a ½ length defeat over this trip at Catterick. She’s capable of getting her way off 2lb higher, with cheekpieces seeming to take their time to have much of an effect. RUN THIS WAY is a player having won in similar going at Thirsk in April off 1b lower. A drop in class could doesn’t hurt her case either.
