NORTH LINCOLN finished with conviction when landing ¾ a length 2nd over C&D on handicap bow. Off the same mark and with that run under his belt he could take some stopping for Sir Mark Prescott. TRUELY ACLAIMED has found the frame a few times over slightly further and warrants respect here.

Race 2 – Newmarket Racecourse
DASHING DICK was last seen an all-the-way winner over this trip at Leicester, getting the job done by just a neck. Hollie Doyle takes the ride again off 2lb higher and the pair could have more success here. CASTANA DIA fired up late to edge out success by a neck over 6f at Leicester late last month when paired with Kaiya Fraser and her 7lb claim. The pair have more to come together but may have to settle for a supporting role to the selection.

PRYDWEN has won his last 3 by ever-increasing margins. He’s up 8lb for his latest effort over AW at Wolverhampton but looks the one to beat here. PISANELLO won on comeback outing before not being disgraced in 3rd at Thirsk. He’s likely to be in the mix and can offer the most resistance.

Race 4 – Newmarket Racecourse
GOING GONE had a superb 2021 and made a winning return when landing the Grand Metropolitan at Epsom by a head. He’s up 3lb and should be even better for the outing. SUMMER’S KNIGHT is the danger, winning 5 times in 8 outings last year. He’s trip suited and if not in need of the run could prove most troublesome for Sir Mark Prescott.

MIGHTY ULYSSES made a huge impression when home with 3+ in hand on debut at Yarmouth over this trip back in September. Far from disgraced in 5th on comeback run at Epsom when upped to the Listed ranks, he’s going to take some stopping with that under his belt for the Gosdens. FIRST RULER is the pick of the newcomers, with some superbly regal breeding to his name.

Race 6 – Newmarket Racecourse
ARCTIC EMPEROR started to taper off a bit toward the end of last year as he seemed to have had his fill. He’s expected to make a strong return after 207 days off as he returns to his ideal trip range as a gelding. FLYIN’ HIGH wasn’t disgraced in 3rd at Windsor over 10f and has to be considered now dropped back to the mile.

Race 7 – Newmarket Racecourse
BRAZEN BOLT was highly progressive all year and made a strong comeback 3rd at Thirsk a fortnight ago. Off the same 72 mark he’s expected to be able to mount a successful offensive from gate 2. AS IF BY CHANCE is dangerous off a 5lb penalty after a fairly convincing win at Nottingham last week as his rider takes 6lb off.
