HASTY BROOK won well on hurdle bow across the Irish Sea back in January and now making first start for the in-form Rebecca Menzies string looks quite hard to peg back. TFOU is respected off a debut 2nd in an Ayr bumper in January but he was beaten favourite. The experience should do him well and he could find more now tackling timber.

JUST DON’T KNOW is in a rich vein of form of late, scoring his last couple in these ranks. A further 5lb hike shouldn’t be too much of an anchor as he tees up a superb hat trick. SEEMINGLY so got the chase account open at Musselburgh latest and has to be respected off just 4lb higher.

BARRAKHOV shed the maiden tag by a neck over this trip at Southwell back in January. Now sporting first-time cheekpieces in addition to his usual tongue-tie he’s fancied to have more up his sleeve off 4lb higher. SMOKEY THE BANDIT has improved with each run since joining Nicky Richards and retains the blinkers that saw him find 2nd here latest. A drop in trip could play in his favour with Brian Hughes retaining the ride.

Race 4 – Newcastle Racecourse
THUNDER IN MILAN has shown ample promise in 4 outings under rules and looks like a useful sort for handicapping. An opening mark of 96 and a return to 20f suggest we could see a big run from Lucinda Russell’s gelding. BESTIARIUS is a reliable performer of late and should find his way into the equation with a useful 5lb taken off by Tom Midgley.

BAVINGTON BOB notched a C&D double before heading to Carlisle to make it a hat trick. He’s up another 5lb but seems to have plenty more to come off 5lb higher. He can make it a 4 timer in this small field. THE FERRY MASTER has been doing decent enough work in defeat of late and does make some appeal on return from a rest and wind surgery. He is also aided by a 4lb drop in the ratings and could be best-placed to chase home the selection.

Race 6 – Newcastle Racecourse
PLANNED PARADISE has unlocked plenty of progression since going handicapping, winning outright over C&D with 6+ in hand on first attempt off a 93 mark. He wasn’t disgraced since when 2nd by a neck off 11lb higher at Wincanton. A short rest should do him well and he can offer more despite a somewhat hefty 5lb hike. ENLIGHTEN is on the radar after getting up at Sedgefield by ¾ of a length. A 4lb rise could see him throw down the gauntlet.

FULL OF SURPRISES has amends to make after being beaten favourite when 4th at Doncaster in late January. She made a couple of mistakes that day and is quite capable of bouncing right back for Neil Mulholland off the same 107 mark. ANOTHER THEATRE found a highly progressive rival too good when striking the crossbar at Carlisle on return to chasing. She’s more than capable of making a dent for Philip Kirby.

Race 8 – Newcastle Racecourse
FANCY STUFF is a winner between the flags in Ireland who was picked up by Dan Skelton. A rest and wind surgery before her rules debut paid off and she won with 2+ in hand despite some obvious greenness. With that under her belt she should take plenty of beating. ROSE OF SIENA has found the frame in both runs to date and is the one most likely to give the selection grief for Nicky Richards.
