ROYAL ATHENA was a pleasing debutante in 3rd at Kempton 18 days ago. With that under her belt and the services of Tom Marquand, we can see plenty of improvement. VENETIAN has finished on the podium in all 3 races for Mark Johnstone. He is respected going up in trip but it might prove counterproductive based on his latest Haydock effort.

CANTERBURY BELL gets the vote for Willie Haggas, who trained the winner of this 12 months back. She has won 3 of her last 4 and looks set for more now fitted with blinkers and reunited with Tom Marquand. PINK CARNATION lost little in defeat when 12th in the Sandringham at Royal Ascot and warrants respect on comeback run as she heads down in grade for Archie Watson.

PRIDE OF PRIORY is Willie Haggas’ contender as he seeks to land back to back iterations of this race. Fresh off a nice hat trick, he looks primed to shoot for a quartet off 6lb higher. HALIPHON is dangerous on hat trick bid, with the latest win being franked handsomely by the runner-up.
