Race 2 – Fairview Racecourse
SKATING ON ICE has a habit of not kicking into gear in the home stretch but out of pole position in a fairly moderate line-up may well be able to get it done. She’s been narrowly beaten a few times here and does have some talent to draw upon. LAURETTA MIA is a 12 time maiden but took a huge step in the right direction when 2nd by a neck over the mile here. She’s back up in trip and might be able to tap into a bit more.

STAR OF THE SOUTH failed to live up to short odds on AW/yard debut for Alan Greeff made immediate amends when home over C&D when back on the turf. He’s drawn well once more and could double up. STORM COMMANDER is in top shape over the AW lately but does have some solid turf form to draw on. He has the next best draw and could battle it out for the spoils.

Race 4 – Fairview Racecourse
GLOBAL ASH has been improving on the turf in a couple of runs since joining Cliffie Miller. His latest C&D 3rd at 28/1 was promising. He could go better and notch a deserved turf win if he can overcome the lousy draw. FIRSTAMONGEQUALS is a hit and miss Sharon Kotzen charge but has won here over 6f in the past. Blinkers seem to be doing some good and he could build on his 3rd over the mile here if he doesn’t mind the return to 7f.

INHERIT THE RAIN does his best work on the AW but has still shown ample promise over turf. Last seen 3rd over C&D, he went down by just ½ a length. Blinkers have done him good and he’s likely to have more over this surface for the mighty Alan Greeff. CELTILLUS has been in a good pocket of form, especially if we ignore his penultimate 6th. He loves the AW but is capable over turf.

GLACIER GOLD concedes plenty of weight but has been building toward another win since being refitted with blinkers and landing the goods over the AW here. If she replicates her latest 5f 2nd by a neck she’s in for a chance to land the spoils. HERRIN is on the way into top form and can battle it out with her stablemate, the selection.

SWEET THE SOUND bolted up with it over 7f here latest and looks the sort to have more to come now upped to the mile for the first time. QUEEN OF SHADOWS has found the frame in 6 of 7 outings including a couple of wins. Aside from her lacklustre 3rd when sent to Grade 1 level at Kenilworth she has done little wrong. She bounced back with a 2nd over slightly shorter at Kenilworth since and this looks like a good chance for her to try stepping up once more.

STORM CHASER showed no signs of slowing down when home over 6f here latest. A drop back in trip should be of no issue if arriving in a similar spirit. BRASS BELL is in good heart, improving with each run for Gavin Smith. He hasn’t tackled 5f since his debut so there might be questions to answer but he’s headed in the right direction and has Warren Kennedy in the saddle.
